Calgary conservatively gets about quadruple the hail as Edmonton, so, I'll have to disagree.

And Calgary is conservatively 4x nicer than Edmonton. I'll take the hail thanks.

dedmonton is full of union workers and government workers - socialists - they also have the EPS who proceed with 1 over tickets with their photo radar (though usually its more like 6 over)

I didnt say hail exclusively - they get tornadoes and giant ass storms like we do, but Calgary and the area is in a hail alley.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hailstorm_Alley
Fun useless fact of the day.... I wrote that wiki back in 2015. lol, I kid you not. I had a brief obsession with Alberta hail storms back then.

Anyway, I feel sorry for many Calgarians. I have two co-workers that own homes in the NE. They got shredded.

Here is an Absolutely Canadian documentary about Hailstorm Alley. Interesting video.

After watching the Radar replay of the events on June 13th's ShitNami-HailNadoCane, it's pretty obvious that a handful of planes with birthday sparklers attached would be ineffective against that mass of precipitation.

The voting patterns have historically been the same in both cities, so this one election result is a silly thing to use as evidence.
Are people going to suddenly stop saying that Edmonton is "full of blue collar, mouth breathing, rednecks"? Because they sure as fuck don't vote NDP. So, which is it? Full of rednecks or full of gender-bender Arts grads with twisty moustaches? Could it be neither??

Both cities have remarkably left-leaning mayors for Conservative strongholds. Edmonton with the worst Mayor in the recorded history of the earth and Calgary with a fat goof who is somehow still riding the afterglow of popularity from making Stampede still happen in the flood year.

Oh right, there's that pesky flooding thing, too... That's a predominantly Calgary phenomenon, you know?

This is like Catholics arguing with Protestants. Holy fuck, it's the same imaginary bearded man in the sky! Can't you faggots go to your magic building the same day every week and get along while you share collective guilt for no rational reason, together?!?! What's there to hate about someone who's 96% the same as you?

Not true. I had a buddy a couple years ago drive into a river, had to he towed out as he didn't make it out. Truck went to the shop where they determined water damage (electrical issues) and he was upfront with insurance.

They wrote his truck off. We were all surprised they covered it.

Edit: I'm not saying that's the rule, definitely an exception to the rule.
Everyone should read their policy jacket carefully, especially the exclusions and special conditions. Every insurer has slightly different practices and terms. It shocks me to see so many people assume all insurance companies have the same benefit and T&Cs.

No its not - when you go to the west coast this is pretty much all you see. Forestry workers, etc. all belong to strong unions. Bunch of rednecks with big trucks and 'support union' bumper stickers.

The CCF had one of their earliest branches on Vancouver Island (not first, but early).

    How much colder?
Recall that there was not 1.000 single days in all of February of 2019 that were above -23°C in Calgary. Literally an entire 4.5 weeks of about -30°C. How much colder do you think it was in Edmonton at that same time? Do people think it was -70°C there for a month? Serious question, because I'm pretty sure a lot of people do think that. It wasn't, by the way. Let's try to recall that it's 300km away. Calgary is not Equatorial and Edmonton is not where Santa Claus lives.
Now, I only lived in Edmonton for about 15 years, but in that time we averaged about 7~ish days of -40 and that was it. I honestly can't recall that happening even once from about 2012-2016 but maybe I'm wrong and it just wasn't memorable. At some point, there was a stretch closer to two weeks of -40 and that was pretty fucking awful.
But to put it into perspective... I'll talk about Feb-'19 in Calgary until I'm dead. Holy fucking WtF-BBQ I'd take CoVid over that!! Fuck all the ducks that was the most miserable weather I've ever seen!!! Plus, I've counted more days below -39 in the past few Calgary years than I can recall in the previous 5 years in Edmonton. It's almost as if (and I hope y'all are sitting down) both are Northern cities with harsh winters. #BindMlown

So again - if folks in San Diego want to tell me how frozen Edmonton is, I think that's fair. When people in Calgary do it, it's Marth.

Actually, they're both astonishingly the same. They are large cities that experience extreme cold in the winter and fairly high heat in the summer. Each are full of Albertans which are virtually indistinguishable, unless they are talking about how the other city "sucks" for reasons no one should understand because they're the complete same.
The alleged "rivalry" is about the dumbest thing you'll see a Canadian person complain about outside of Thunder Bay. Oilers fans hating Flames fans - fine, we get it. There are just too many Edmontonians thinking Calgarians are like Vancouverites and too many Calgarians acting like Edmonton = igloos while Calgary = Cancun. The minor differences offer plus/minus to each place and it doesn't take Marth to end up going "meh - same".

@revelations saying "they get tornadoes". True. In 1987 Edmonton had a big tornado. I think it's been arbitrarily close to zero for the past 33 years.

    Calgary: more hail.
    Edmonton: no winter Chinooks.
Edmonton is but a pimply wart and not worthy of discussion until they reach a million proper, they do however have much nicer summer evenings - Calgary's proximity to the mountains pretty much keeps our nights fairly cool in comparison to Edmonton's nights. Never the less, that poop stain is far enough away to make many other better areas nearer to go visit in Alberta first.

I know, Fam. We cool. But the number of people who legit think that place is like Garry, Indiana (but also frozen) in comparison to Calgary is baffling and hilarious.
