The lower level clouds were rotating crazy fast in a counter clockwise overhead as the storm approached - we went to a field here in Deer Run to see the sky and it felt like something out of the movie Twister. Would not have been at all surprised to see a touch down.

The more discrepancy there is with cloud direction, the more serious the storm.
Good to know. There was some rotation almost overhead of my place while the plane was seeding.

The hail seeding planes made about 3-4 passes above my house in Mahogany about 5 mins before the hail hit. I bet if they didn't the hail would've been really bad as there were half a dozen golf ball sized ones that landed on my front lawn, the rest were tiny pea sized or smaller.
I got some damage to my truck in Mahogany. It's not major but some of golf ball ones were bouncing off pretty good.

I was in New Brighton tonight. My car got a few dents, but you really have to look for them. I got a couple holes in my camper vent and cracks in the trimming, which is just fine cause I was looking for an excuse to replace those anyways.

Some dents in the gutters and downspouts in Deer Run area, but cars appear OK.

Damaging hail seems to be very localized in these storms.

It was heavy but fairly small hail until we got past Ikea, then there was a stretch where they were dime/nickel sized.

People gotta stop hiding under bridges and blocking traffic lanes. Just keep moving.

Ended up with a couple hood dents on the way to @A790 's house but hood dents should be the easiest of them all to fix.

Saturday morning a small strange thunderstorm rolled through the NW, we had blue skies above us but heard loud thunder so we went to the front yard to look west and see what was going on. Saw a huge lightning bolt strike further in the NW and interestingly that lightning bolt struck down the street from my Mom’s place in Citadel.

Here’s a picture of where it struck the ground beside a light pole and blew concrete all over the road.

Lightning can do some strange things. As a kid living on a farm we had lightning hit our kitchen faucet, cut a perfect hole through the window.

That lightning strike blew up a switch I had inadvertently plugged straight into the wall instead of the UPS during my lockdown home wiring cleanup. Every device plugged into the switch had its Ethernet port destroyed. Apple TV, Xbox one, and port 9 on my core switch. Knew that was a close one, the flash and sound was instant. Confirmed on all my outdoor cameras.

Serves me right for organizing shit late at night and not paying attention haha.

This is what I hammer to my clients - you dont need a direct strike to damage your AV/PC/gaming equipment.

Looks like they're expecting that storm by olds/Didsbury to start heading south. It was tracking due East about 30min ago.

Does a big cloud have to have a certain amount of moisture content before it appears on radar?

There's 2 houses up here near Skyview down the street and they've begun repairs, and they removed all the old vinyl siding and they're re-doing the entire exterior in what looks something like Stucco.
