It's nice to know I have coldstart tuned correctly in my subarus Microsquirt, considering it starts but a lot of stock vehicles are having problems lol. Bet Im the only one daily driving a vehicle on a standalone in -30

I need to throw the new tune onto my car but I'm like its too damn cold in the shopThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Car would struggle to maintain coolant temp in stop n go traffic this morning, but the cabin was decently toasty. I could get it up to 90* (operating), but would drop if I started to crawl, or stopped too long. Oil temp was at 70* after 45mins of driving. Attached/insulated/unheated garage was at -8* this morning.

My truck OAT said 14* when I got in it this morning. The carbon tax is doing exactly zero to deter me from blasting my garage with 155k btu's. I don't mind paying for comfort.
I picked up a truck that had a partially frozen battery after sitting for 6 days and managed to defrost it with a heat gun in the shop in 45 mins. Truck wound run but wouldn’t charge the battery but seems all good after driving 50km.
That's reassuring. The wife's battery was an ice cube this morning. I am hoping to resurrect it after work versus buying a new one. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mine is at 15*C to keep my battery warm. hahahaThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Anyone with a frozen battery, bring it inside a fully warm house for at least 6-8 hours to thaw it. Then charge it fully. Then either get it tested at a parts shop, or install it again, your choice. It's best not to boost or charge it when it's frozen.

Are you guys using gas blower heaters in your garage or infra-red? I want garage heat, but probably won't do it until next year. I do have a breaker panel/electrical box in my garage which I assume is helpful for an electric heater but the best ones seem to be gas.
I use gas forced-air (Reznor) in my shop, it's great. Some prefer the infrared units, both have their advantages. Mine keeps my shop at a nice 10 degrees and I bump it up when I'm working in there.
In-floor.

In-floor sounds really expensive to add after the fact
Get a gas heater if you can afford the install, which is sometimes more then the heater cost.
tear down the whole garage, install a wider and taller door, make room for a lift and install infloor heating all at once. You basically can't afford not to.

But alas, only my wife's vehicle and a car I rarely drive get spots in the garage!

I've got a massive 155,000 BTU force air furnace (twice the size of my house one) that I bought for $50 on Kijiji a decade or so ago.
For reference, my friend has the same one in his commercial shop space which is two storeys of open air, lol. I'm pretty sure the long term costs of running it have been much higher than just buying a normal garage heater new, but whatever, it heats the garage back to temp in about 30 seconds after the door is closed.
