All of southern alberta bookable sites are gone for july long. Literally every single one
The 50% capacity thing makes no sense to me. none of these sites are within 2m of another
Camp grounds have been way too much of cluster fucks for years.
Where you can get spots this summer will probably be the best for camping in decades.

I wonder how they are doing this, ie if you book site 80 for example and site 81 and 82 are either side of you, does the system automatically block these off so they cant be booked? because on my map all the sites were green for the dates I wanted. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Its also to reduce the usage of the common areas such as water taps, bathrooms, showers, etc. Halving the number of people drastically reduces the risk of a) there being a sick person and b) if there is then it spreads to much less peopleThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Most campsites I saw had every second site unavailable to start with. So only 78, 80, 82 were every available to book to start. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
On a different topic, national parks camping will be closed until June 21 at least according to CBC today.

Sucks you can’t have more than one unit per site either, we got 2 locations booked on lower lake but 3 couples attending, so that will be a blast to figure out. invade the vacant site beside us? LoL

Get a bigger tent. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I didnt notice that. However looking at Crimson lake it looks like they are just closing some loops instead. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Weird, thats not how they are supposed to do it. People might get shuffled to different sites? No ideaThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Where do you see this? We were hoping 1 car 2 tents for our site. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

They only said 50% capacity, that didn't mean every other site specifically. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The intent is to just reduce the amount of people in one place. Its obvious that the sites are spaced enough to keep 2m but they want to reduce the capacity for the public spaces. Some sites will also be opening some public services too like washrooms ect.
Kinda funny to have entire loops closed, when each loop has bathroom and other facilities . . .
But whatever.

potentially less alberta parks people required to maintain the campgroundThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Guess i cant be too upset, lots of people who got cancelled for their bookings got shut out today. i'd be losing my mind.
They definitely should have rolled this out with preferential treatment to those with changes/cancellations first, for the weekends that were booked.
We picked up 3 weeks, dinosaur, little bow, and either a week at jarvis bay or a week at ziener - prob pick jarvis bay because we can swim in sylvan lake vs no swimming in pigeon lake. Still undecided whether we will bother going to Vancouver this summer or not.
I did get a weekend at little bow. I bitched and complained about that campground last time, but my wife requested it, so we shall see.

what were your complaints. It seems this year that we picked based on swimming, with the exception of dinosaur because we enjoyed it last spring. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My main complaint is that I like mountains and being far from the next site. My wife said "it'll be warmer and the kids will enjoy it.". Meh.

If memory serves, little bow felt really cramped due to a lack of pine tree cover, but part of that could be alleviated with half capacity. If you are going out on the lake, watch out for the areas near the cow ranch, the water in that area is pretty gross.
Ex.
