Seems like the province could be funding themselves with the money they get for charging for firewood $10 for a tiny bag. Already spent $60 and it’s only day 2 of 5. I might need to bring my own next trip.

Buy the bags from firewood depot next time. Better wood, better deal, better life.

What’s the best place to stock up on fire wood near Bow Valley? Wondering if I should fill up our suv at golden acre before we leave in Calgary or try and grab something on the way
Wood depot is great if you want bags.
Golden acre... that just sounds expensive.

I've done burnco, I've done golden acre, I've done kijiji people, and I now recommend wood depot bags, Buy 10 bags, burn 2-3 per trip. Have a happy life.

Bow Point Nursery, $100 for a truck load or that was the price in October 2019. Mix of seasoned spruce/pine although you can sometimes luck out into birch, mountain ash, apple and other local hardwoods. A full size truck bed (8') can hold about half a cord.
Oh nice Wood Depot is pretty close by, have never heard of it before. Will give them a shot.
Yeah bow point is much better quality of wood than burnco last I checked too. Good folks out there. Very knowledgeable on native and hardy plants. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

If any of you ever drive down west of 22x about 1 km before the Bragg Creek turn off, there is a red shed on the side of the road marked “free firewood”, last two weekends that I went by it, it was full. Not sure what kind of wood but it’s free. I’ll try to take pic next time I go by.
I use wood depot, $129 for 10 decent size bags and they deliver it free.
Pic would be cool. Thanks. I still am stocked up right now, but will be burning quite a bit in the next 6 weeks.

You can always get a wood permit and go for a rip up the FTR towards nordegg until you find some fall.
