No one needs a Winnebago. They lost their brand cachet decades ago. Jesus at that point just buy an Airstream.

I would rock the shit out of a flying cloud 30FB but it's too fuckin' yuuuuge. The crazy rear slide layout on our Outback really got us a great floorplan for our needs in a compact space

Likely avoiding tent trailers as the wife wants to extend the season if we are dropping money. I told her $30k would be a pretty standard entry area for a *good* truck we wouldn’t have t replace in 5 years and decent trailer, she looked at me like I had 3 eyes. Glad to see I wasn’t fully crazy, that step from tent to trailer is a steep one.
ExtraSlow is gonna have a Savage™ 3/4ton gas truck that will get you 28L/100KM of beyond credibility for sale in a matter of weeks which would leave you with plenty of trailer budget at 30k truck&tow-rig all-in for sure.

I pull a 28 foot now, it's too fucking long. Would like something around 21 feet instead.

Why don’t you just buy this? No need for a truck and less than an hour from Calgary to spend your weekends in trailer luxury!

Glamped at an airbnb cabin out by Jaffray in BC, came home early as we were catching the black lung from all the wildfire smoke, so damn bad

I suggest spending less than 10k on a used trailer with an acceptable floorplan and then spending 2k on new tires and servicing the bearings and brakes. Extra 200-450 on new batteries of ya want, although that can wait.

I really like standens for bearings and brakes. Or do it yo'sef if ya handy yo.

Tent trailers have furnaces...and could potentially be towed by your current vehicle
Current vehicle is haldex based awd minivan, it ain’t towing shit

How are hybrids like this? Seems like a middle ground between tent/full hard side

That's my plan for next spring when I start looking.
    8k for a trailer and 2k for additional repair/maintenance.

Camped at the Juan De Fuca Park - China Beach on the west side of Vancouver Island for September long weekend. Weather was a mid 20s, suny, though one morning it was foggy at the beach.

Campsite itself was really nice. Big tall trees that shaded the site very well during the day, though at night you couldn't really see a lot of stars because of the trees, and it really limited my solar panel's ability to charge the trailer. Also, no cell phone reception at the campsite on any carrier (a bonus!). No hookups at all and no shower if that matters. Firewood is delivered to your campsite, $8/bundle.

The walk down to the beach is about 1.2km, and almost entirely down hill on the way there (my kids counted 252 stairs we had to go down) through the forest. If you're horribly out of shape, bring lots of water and take breaks when you're coming back up. There is an outhouse down at the beach, but you gotta go out about 50 stairs. The beach was lovely during low tide. Lots of sand for the kids to play in, and rocks. Had a nice beach fire with the drift wood and roasted hot dogs ! The water was cold of course because it's basically the strait of juan de fuca/salish sea.

I took lots of pics at the beach and on the way down to it, a few are below. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of my campsite.

Wife, friend, and our kids. We got there when the tide was still going out, so as the day went on the beach size more than doubled.

The fog made the walk through the forest really surreal

Fog at the last set of steps before we got to the beach.

tl;dr: Amazing campsite with nice beach. Walk to beach is not anyone horribly out of shape. I'm definitely going back.
Did you go the other way to Mystic beach as well? Its a good spot too.

We didn't hike over to mystic beach because of the number of kids we had with us. It's a longer walk from the campsite plus the hike itself is longer too than it is down to china beach. We did do the mystic beach hike earlier in the summer and it was stunning! The rock wall where the little "waterfall" was a lot of fun for my kids to just run back/forth through. We haven't been much further beyond that but is definitely one of the amazing parts about being out here on the island; definitely looking forward to exploring more of it.

Sleeping at Kinbrook this weekend. Spent all of yesterday at Dinosaur Park. Highly reccomend the guided hikes if you want to find "wild" fossils. We did the "Dino stomp" hike and there were so many fossils my daughter literally tripped over one! Amazing stuff. Totally worth the cash.
    Kinbrook is rainy this morning.

Winterized our trailer Sunday too. We did 14 weekends this summer.

Was a great year even though we didn't make it to BC once and passed on our usual 10 day trip.

Did my last trip at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park. Did a Thursday to Monday trip and had to drive into town twice on Friday so took the car back the one time. A few weird looks with the car parked like it was towing the trailer.

Awesome to have the car out front of it. How do you like that campground? I have never been there.
