Been looking at sites today too. Just saw the availability open up at McLean Creek. Looked 100% full 10 min ago. Now she's wide open.

yeah, they are opening campgrounds one at a time. It's a crazy thing to do, but hey, that's how it's working.

Waiting to see if they open more sites at Castle falls so I can move to the desired site
I wonder if we get a second wave and restrictions again, will it be this last round of openings that get cancelled, or will they do a random draw like the first time?
thx for the heads up last night Brent.ff! Was able to book a couple of 3-night Thursday-Sunday trips in June and July at Lower Lake last night to take the family. I've only ever camped in the bush with friends on crown land, so family trip at a paid site will be a first for me. Planning on renting a motorized RV for these next two trips until we figure out if we want to invest in a trailer.
Does Lower Lake have decent fishing? I've also never fished before but want to get into it.
I don't think camping would get restricted either way. We have more data no on COVID than we did during the original shutdown. We know its not as contagious outdoors and social distancing can adequately contain the spread. They may have restrictions on common facilities (like maybe shutdown showers or something) but I can't see them re-closing campsites regardless of how big a latter wave is. I could see things getting out of control and them backpedaling on some of the phase 2 things though and we go back down to 15 or 50 person limits on gatherings, that would be the first restriction (if any were to happen). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. And don't forget, there's a political/economic aspect to re-opening and re-introducing restrictions. you can argue about the merits of that, but it's true. I don't see Alberta going back to lockdown unless wave2 is MUCH worse than Wave1.

Pretty much. I don't see phase 3 happening anytime soon tbh. Like maybe very end of 2020 or into 2021 realistically. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Upper lake has better fishing from shore, looks like people are moving around their bookings as stuff at lower is opening up as day goes on
Lac des arcs just opened up a bunch. Thinking of switching Upper Lake site which is shared over to one of these. Anyone been to lac des arcs? Any reviews?
EDIT: actually nm, reading reviews and highway noise looks like it will be a bad time.

Just snagged a better campsite for my June 21-26 dates - went with bow valley next to the riverfront with water and power connections.
Hoping I can get a site at crimson lake before everyone realizes they are open again. That campground hasnt been opened up yet though.
If anyone is looking - boulton creek in lower lake has a bunch of sites

Lac des arcs is bad. Bow valley is good.

Refreshed again and was able to snag site A2 at Bow Valley. Probably one of the less desired sites but oh well, it was the last one. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You can kind of tell by going to campsites and seeing if there is any sites that are fully booked for the entire year. For example, site 41 at Lundbreck falls is booked every single day (which is bonkers), so you know they havent opened it.. I'm headed there tomorrow, so hoping they dont just pile people in, or see if i can switch with someone to be near friendsThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Have a buddy who ended up with surplus sites. Anyone want these spots?
1. June 21-23 site C-60 at Boulton Creek. No services
2. June 22-24 site E-14 at Bow Valley. Power & Water
3. July 12-14 site E-8 at Bow Valley Campground. Power & Water

If anyone sees Lundbreck or Chinook open I’d appreciate the favour returned!
Reasons why I dislike prairie campgrounds, people can be like this:
Oh well, I had a decent time despite these rednecks, (and their entire extended family who surrounded me). Drank some cheap beer, cooked on my griddle, kids swam in the lake all three days.
