Hopefully the skies will be clear for you. It was amazing with no moon out the nights we were there.

Back from lower lake. Had a few nice hikes with the kids, including Ptarmigan cirque, but my fave was the "secret" Kent Creek falls. An incredible lunch spot.
Look how happy this dude is.

Cypress Hills is the forgotten or overlooked park - people don't want to drive that far and yet there are wonderful campgrounds there and lots of other stuff to explore. I grew up in the SE part of the province and our family spent a lot of time in the Cypress Hills and also some of the other amazing places nearby like Red Rock Coulee and the Manyberries badlands. Camping and fishing at Reesor Lake was most memorable - my brothers and I sneaking off to go fishing in the boat after Mom and Dad were asleep. Not sure how accessible that campground is for people win trailers now as one has to ford a stream to get to the campground now - yeah, it's a concrete ford but still looks like fairly steep approach angles for most trailers.

Anywhere more then 2h from Calgary is MUCH less busy. And anything on gravel is even less busy.

First one is Maude Lake/North Kananaskis Pass above Turbine, second is Northover Tarns. Great option if you want to do Northover Ridge in a single night, but a frigging slog. And zip zero nada for cover if the weather went to hell

@speedog I'd take my trailer across that ford non problem. Just not sure I'd want to spend the 4 hours driving there, although it looks miles better than all the campgrounds near brooks along the way.

Reesor is a wonderful little campground, so quiet and a great trout fishing lake there as well. One can poke around east into Saskatchewan for some amazing vistas and history or southwest into the Manyberries badlands. Cypress Hills is great because it is that far away from the Calgary hordes.

Enjoyed a Police outpost again, was less than half full, super dead. Yet somehow there's always that person who has their car alarm go off in the middle of the night

Don't get me started on those people. Also the ones that are too stupid/ignorant to realize that their Jeep won't honk if they just use the door lock button on the door, instead of using their damn FOB every fucking time.

Had a great weekend at Cypress, stayed at Firerock. Unfortunately we didn't get good skies and it was cold. Drove to writing on stone on the back roads, and drove through the park to fort Walsh. Might go back for some backcountry at some point this season...

Slept in a tent in my friends backyard with the kids in Britannia last night 0/10 do not recommend. Glenmore trail is basically a race track until about 3am. If the cops are trying to make money they should be setting up cameras at that time of the morning.

I thought to myself I will be fine with some earplugs, nope.

Our friends house overlooks the sandy park but on the most southern edge and the traffic was definetly going east/west

1.5km away at the closest to Brittania. Yea I doubt it. How about people ripping up and down McLeod even.

Yeah, that's Elbow. People love ripping up and down there because there's fewer lights than Macleod
