Overseas tourists can book their own sites if they want to come over here. If provincial parks have a non-transferrable rule, why can't Parks Canada?
I don't know - do you want to be fighting 10,000 overseas IP addresses every time dates are released - or a handful of not picky RV booking agents grabbing whatever's available?

Then again I'd like to think the reservations should be non refundable. Then if nobodys checked in - goes to fcfs.

If you think those RV booking agents arent using bots, you're nuts.

He already stated he believes they are in the prior post.

I'd be happier competing with of 1000's of IP addresses with overseas lag vs domestic bots.

Yeah, I think there should be some form of prevention for the bots.

At the very least they could use one of those are you a bot and pick out all the traffic lights/bicycles in this photo. Must be simple to implement that.

That doesn't really do much tbh. There's lots of bots that automated everything and then just show the captcha to the operator and they complete it.

Say the AB parks reservation as an example, you have to log in, then either search campground name or navigate the map to get to the site numbers then select a site number and add to cart then checkout. Each time you wait for the webpage to load to see where you can click on stuff. Even if they add a CAPTCHA at checkout or the add to cart button a bot works like this: Auto fills in your login info, as soon as the page starts to load it auto submits what campground you want, then as soon as it shows site numbers it grabs the first available one (or you could pre-set a ranking to get the more desireable spots) and instantly hits add to cart. Then the captcha pops up and the human completes it. Meanwhile you are still waiting for the first page to render because AB parks uses a lot of pictures and the map data which slows their website response to molasses.

Think that sounds silly? There's a dozen bots just to buy sneakers when they drop like this: https://forcecop.com/ and thats just that market, there's many many more for event tickets and other rare releases. There's even entire communities dedicated to adapting bots to different niches to sell. You can spend ~500$ and have a developer adapt one of the template bots to a certain site if you really wanted.

I'll buy the $500 bot, then sell the camping reservations to all of you for $50 each.

Fortunately the BC camping I have booked are both at private campgrounds. The one I am at for 10 nights I confirmed with the owner that currently he is still expecting me so hopefully there aren't any further changes. I need that hot BC weather and clean lakes!!!

Regarding the towing mileage question, I have a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7L Hemi and at ~115km/h on the QE2 I get around 27-28L/100km. Driving ~105km/h in 100km zones I get around 24-25L/100km. And driving ~97km/h on 90 roads I get around 22-23L/100km. Speed definitely makes a big difference. Trailer is a 24' travel trailer that is about 5500lbs loaded.

    Soooooo...

I know most of you are glampers, but it also looks like the backcountry is fully booked up all summer at this point, or am I missing something?
