Apparently the theory is that this is not allowed to happen (destroy ourselves). There are reports from most of the super powers of UFOs disabling, arming or disarming the nukes in their silos.

And looking at history, we SHOULD HAVE destroyed ourselves in nuclear Armageddon on 2-3 occasions. There have been some 12 events in the last 70 years where we were seconds/minutes away from this.
