Assessment down 4%, tax up 14%. But hey, got that sweet $45 one time credit, that fixes everything.
How the city determined how much to raise each persons taxes

Pro tip: if you do yearly lump sum, pay your property taxes with a Triangle World Elite CC and earn 1% CT money on it. For a $3500 yearly tax bill it’s a free $35 bucks
I should take my own advice and switch off of TIPP but I’m really bad with saving money so this would probably do more harm than good for me
They only accept cheque, money order, debit card, and cash money.

I thought you can also pay by credit card using Plastiq. Maybe I'm wrong.

I am just quoting from the back of my invoice.
Probably can but why pay an extra 3% fee to earn 1-2% in cc rewards? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
With the Triangle, you login, add a payee, then make the payment just like online banking. No fee and you earn 1% rewards. Also works with Enmax if you only do water/sewer/waste with them
I'm not familiar with how Triangle works. I've used Plastiq before to pay income taxes to get the Avion points on my card. Lucky for me, the town I live in allows us to pay with credit card right at town office and they eat the fee. Pretty sweet for me!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

You can pay Enmax with a credit card without any fuckery lol

What are you talking about? You spin the wheel and get a number, sheesh
Only if you have Gas/Electric with them. If you use Atco or someone for gas/electric, Enmax doesn't let you pay with a CC for water/sewer/waste.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yea it's stupid. Is Enmax priced the same as Atco for gas? Or do they do some sort of fuckery to make up that difference for allowing CC? I'm only on Enmax for electricity, and 15 years ago they kept withdrawing from my bank account to someone else's Enmax bill, so since then I just pay them directly monthly. I still don't trust them with my bank info, but I am tired of dealing with a fucking bill every month. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

You don't have to have gas with them, the only thing required is a contract or whatever terminology they use, which you can choose as floating rate (RRO) or fixed, credit card payment is good then. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
edit: you have to be on easymax

I've done this for the past two years (paid property taxes for my house and my parents house) using a Triangle Mastercard for the 1% Canadian Tire money. Just add City of Calgary as a payee - no additional fees to pay your property taxes with a Triangle Mastercard, and Canadian Tire even promotes their credit card this way. My only regret is not knowing about this sooner, and I only shop at Canadian Tire maybe 3-4 times a year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
