He raised taxes every year without fail during his entire term. Faster than the rate of inflation no less. In 9 years, my taxes have risen $3000 per year, yet my assed value has not changed. Literally the same as the day I moved in.
Maybe the city should look at some austerity measures.

I wonder how much this will push more places for sale. Between insurance premiums and tax hikes I gotta imagine there's a bunch of rentals that'll be underwater now.

I can't see it TBH. If you have an average $400K house and an extra $30 a month in taxes and $30 a month in insurance are enough to push you out of the house then you had no business being there in the first place.
