    Default Australia wildfires

    So much global attention.

I don’t recall CANADA getting this much attention when all of BC was on fire.

Lol. See the tiny dot? That was Fort Macs fire. The larger red circle is Australia's fire, and the white one the smoke coverage.

Movies have taught me that this is normal for post-apocalyptic Australia.

Probably because it's being covered more than Canada does with it's wild fires

Also, as a proud Canadian, this is becoming a pathetic country that holds a hockey coach more accountable than it's PM, watches turmoil between provinces last for years, etc... I'm sure other countries feel the same and don't care as much

I feel like the risk to human life is much worse with the Australian fires than any in Canada. Human tragedy is newsworthy.

Australia is a hot place. So it's a good platform for the climate Nazis to get on their soapbox of insanity and claim this is all due to climate change. That's why it's getting so much coverage.

To be fair, it's received nearly no attention for months, and it was always pretty bad. If their PM wasn't such a shit bag, it likely would have never made global coverage. Letting it burn and get worse has brought the spotlight to it.

Even Instagram "models" are selling nudes for fire relief donations. Kumbaya?

I keep hearing "there is no water" to fight the fires. I may be completely out of the loop on how to fight fires, but can ocean water not be used? There is a limitless supply of water surrounding the entire country.

Salt is a soil sterilizer, so that may have something to do with it.

To be fair if you do a quick google of the total area burned, the Australia fire has burned approximately 3x more area than the BC fire.

    Regardless, a lot of hysteria...

Australia is a bit bigger than BC, the fires have been burning longer and don't look to be stopping anytime soon. The Fort McMurray fires went pretty damn viral.

Well, burning venomous spiders, scorpions, snakes and what not they have over there will likely draw a different kind of reaction.

Lots of celebrities donating for this wildfire sure helps gain attention too
