I would STRONGLY recommend looking at a lab created diamond. For A diamond in your price range you’ll get lab created diamond for the same price that is that is 30% bigger (and trust me this is all girls and their friends really care about) with superior cut, clarity and colour.

I did a ton of research and I have absolutely no regrets. Check out https://www.miadonna.com/for their stone inventory to compare their prices against real diamonds with similar specs. When I took it in for an appraisal for insurance the guy said he hadn’t seen a ton of lab diamonds, but that he was super impressed with the quality.

I went with Gem By Carati for a custom design ring and have no regrets. I did my research and almost bought online, but ended up paying "more" for the service included from Gem. My wife had a specific setting she liked and we had a similar custom design through Noam Carver.

Do whatever makes you most comfortable.. cost and service.

I know we have sponsors on here so I don't want to step on any toes. My dad was a jeweler for 30+ years so we've connected with alot of the local shops over the years and I've looked at wholesaler prices.

Since moissanite stones are typically more yellow, I'd say looking for a DEF coloured moissy would bring the price up substantially. Some people would prefer to have a colourless stone and that's their call.

Other than that, lab grown diamonds are the next most economical choice but nowadays storefronts don't always price them proportionately because they can capitalize on the eco-friendliness of cultured stones. That said, you're more likely to get the specs that you're looking for in a lower price range.

Maxime's quoted a friend of mine $6100 for a 1ct SI1 G cultured stone which is ludicrous. Wholesale cost was way below that.

Jewelry has one of the highest markups in any luxury product so just stay within your lane, get something she's happy with, and call it a day. People judge others whether they have no ring, a medicore ring, or a mack daddy ring.

Thank god I was able to go through my dad's stash and make a custom ring at cost haha, 'cause ring buying sounds irritating as hell when you get selection paralysis.

i went through a diamond Wholesaler/Jeweler in California.
i sent him photos of what i was looking for, and we went back and forth until it was done!

Prices were better than i found locally for similar band and stone and couriered to my office overnight.
