    Default Fill My Crack In

Hey, wondering what the best material is to fill in this crack between a set of precast steps and a house foundation. That expanding foam stuff, or what? Gap is too small for any kind of wood etc. Doesn't need to create a watertight seal or anything, just need to fill the void and prevent my mother from dropping her car keys down there again. Keys pictured for reference.

If mudjacking is out of your budget, maybe fill the area up with some dirt/gravel first and then use the expanding foam stuff on top of it or you can fill it up with a bunch of those shipping foam chip thingies packages are sent with in boxes. Lots of places just toss that stuff in garbage

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

How about some foam backer rod like this https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/f...w.ds#store=930

You can then caulk then sprinkle some cement/sand mixture on top before it dries to make it look like concrete.

You want something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sikaflex...7706/203249445

You'll want to put gravel or sand down in that hole to give it a good base then seal it up.

    Don't use expansion foam.

Is there a big cavity under your slab? Because that’s probably what you really need to address.

Get some foam rod, don't put it in the gap, tether it to the keys instead. You can't foam rod all the gaps in the world but you can foam rod the keys lol.

Unable to reference gap size from keys.

    Will need banana.

Edit: Use expanding spray foam and paint it.

Good catch. Didn’t see that he was talking about precast steps, for some reason I had it in my head it was a cement patio pad.

neat, i always thought they were solid for some reason but thinking about it logically that would be such a waste.

I would spray mono foam deep into the crack until you're relatively convinced that you've formed a sealed bead. Then, sprinkle sand with light gravel in until that's flush with the surface.

EDIT - I mean deep so the bead of hideous foam is hidden from the surface and let the sand/rocks sit on top of it.

The colour of your trim is 99.99% the exact same colour as my storm door in my old house. Get the fuck out of my head!

Pretty sure that's only for toilets. In which case, broken toilets are to be replaced with full on bidets.

The front of the steps has sunk causing that crack.

Get someone to jack the front while filling the gap in the back.

the foam backer rod thing look perfect, then some grey caulk with sand sprinkled on it will look plenty fine enough for this junky house my mom lives in.

Also, I'm really disappointed that there have been no jokes abut the size of my moms hole. I even put the Seinfeld anal penetration gif in the OP and nobody went dirty. Nobody even asked for pic of mom. SMH.
