    Is the file locked or just the spreadsheet? I used a VBA code in the past to unlock excel spreadsheets. If you send the file to me, I can try to unlock it for you.

    Lazy people put the unlock code in the vbscript sometimes if there’s macros, if you can get into there check through the different macros

    Even though you've already got it I figured I would post for other people. I always use the methods in this website and it always seems to work for me. I used to work at a large company with a ton of downsizing so almost every week we had to unlock someone's spreadsheet. Super easy and takes all of 3 minutes. Essentially you just paste some code in VBA on the sheet you want to unlock.

    VBA code paste in is probably the easiest and less steps than this Googelle stuff you speak of.
