Onto new mediums for me. I haven't touched collage for ages, but I'm really finding ways to make even the smallest of details work. I've been focusing on objects of my past, save for the gumball machine (that was just a mock up to see what was possible). I'll be doing a deep dive into the 90's soon! Hopefully some of you recognize the chocolate and the CD. I made that one just in time for Christmas lol.

    edit: trying this again below

I have never been able to wrap my mind around how sinusoidally (WtF!? how is that an auto-correct for ASTONISHINGLY) terrible I am at virtually every aspect of visual arts. However, rather than be jealous of those who were gifted the skill and those who worked hard to get better, I just like to stand back and gawk in amazement.

I have spent a fair bit of time finding things where I go "you know what - screw these clowns because I can do a better job at _____ than them and I'm going to start doing that and run them out of town!" But if I had to draw pictures of people/places/things tomorrow for money instead of my job, I'm pretty sure my family would starve.
Wow, do I suck and wow, are you folks ever awesome!
    Good for you!

I'm with ya TPIM. I'm a huge fan of visual arts
    But not an artist.

Thanks @tirebob I'm glad someone else remembered those items! Album covers are really something special. I feel like the more digital we go the less we'll see of album covers sadly. It's just click click click and listen now.

I'm still very new to this art making process, but I start with a photograph I've taken or the actual object if I have it, then make a non detailed but relatively accurate drawing of the item onto paper. Then from there just go scouring over old magazines to find the right colours and start tearing away and gluing section by section. The faces on the Boney M cover were difficult but surprisingly fun to make, even if I did lose five or six tiny eyeballs long the way . I'm attaching some extra shots below so you can get a sense of size. Not to plug my own instagram, but here is a really crappy stop motion video of the production of the Boney M cover (you have to click the arrow in-between the cover and the comments). https://www.instagram.com/p/CJH-nxmh0Pr/

Ps: keep up the good work yourself! I'm always happy to see people trying new projects.

wicked @Chantastic ! I have thought about trying to incorporate collage into painting. Going to have to give it a go!

@tirebob use matt medium as glue, that would likely be your best bet! Unless you're using oil paints...

Oil paints are my jam for sure, but I do have some acrylics I have been dabbling with. I just haven't wrapped my head around the characteristics as much as working in oils, but I am getting there!

Awesome! I wish I could illustrate... That is a tough talent to wrap my head around!

Here is a new 16x20 abstract in a new medium for me. It is still in oils but mixed in with some cold wax. I really like the textures and am going to be playing more with it for sure!

    edit:
btw if anyone is interested on some photo prints to hang on their walls, I have a bunch of photos that I printed in the past. my wife doesn't want me to hang them all in the house as she doesnt want to turn it into a gallery haha.
some of them are ready to be hang, others I can help you with framing.
let me know if anyone is interested for a trade

Spam! Here is another one. This is one of my faves lately to be honest but as they say, art is subjective...

"Tempests Rage" 12x16 oil on canvas board

18x36 in oils on stretched canvas... Been working on this one for a while. Prairie Sunrise inspired.
