Medcram had an interesting discussion about using corticosteroids prior to peer review publication. Might be worth a watch if you are interested in the topic in general. He mentions that the DM data is published by a gov't funded study, which in this case is more comparable to a drug safety/efficacy trials utilized to get drug approval.
