"Evolution has yet to transcend that simple barrier. We can care deeply - selflessly - about those we know, but that empathy rarely extends beyond our line of sight." - Just an interesting quote from a movie that applies to our own humanity.

Herd immunity isn't yet well documented. Additionally, people have been reinfected. Therefore as of right now, saying spread this virus as quickly through gen pop. so everyone 'normal' can have the necessary antibodies to not get sick and get on with life (paraphrase) is irresponsible at best and idiotic at worst.

Facts and stats are only useful if you share what you're looking at. Sharing info helps everyone else understand vs. spouting off shows you haven't a clue. Your call.

Experts are sifting through mountains of information and there still isn't a robust protocol to follow. It's actually staggering the amount of papers, in such a short time period, that have been put out with COVID as the main subject matter. The situation is very fluid right now. So a conservative approach seems most appropriate.

Well, I don't think enough empathy exists even within our line of sight, let alone beyond.

The only thing we know that confers immunity is protesting blm. So maybe we should get more of those going again.

I'm going to say 8-10" of precipitation per month is inadequate to wash it away based on over 9000 new cases in florida yesterday

Also another argument against letting things rip / herd immunity.

The death rate for coronavirus patients in English hospitals has fallen to a quarter of the level at the peak of the outbreak, which may mean that doctors are getting better at treating it.
At the beginning of April, when there were 15,000 people in hospital with Covid-19, about 6 per cent died. Since then, the number in hospital has fallen by 2.4 per cent a day
    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/v...isis-fdhlpc68g

The more time we give our healthcare system the better the survival / treatment rates become because they keep learning more about the virus

If we are heading toward Sweden model their 2nd spike is short lived. So the current increase in US may be short lived as well.... let's hope.

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/corona...nday-1.5630388

10 million with 500,000 deaths. Seems to be right in line with being twice as lethal as 1918 flu. If 4 Billion people end up catching (which is probably agiven now) to reach herd its gonna be rough.

That sort of thing would be seen as racist, kinda why it was renamed from the Wuhan Flu.

You already know which country can potentially by pass ethics to get that done. But we don't trust it. You know, the one with multiple vocational training facilities with tons of Muslim volunteers on the west side of the country?

Ethics. Same reason human challenge trial for Zika was shot down. The same principle that we used to shit on that Chinese doctor creating CRISPR anti-AIDS babies.

    By the way:

Way over my head but Nature published the Chinese finding. Sound like layman interpretation is herd immunity theory is now out unless there are flaws in this early study. Hopefully NYC data and other similar western minds can either confirm or deny this.
