Today I found out that my wife’s grandfather in a very high level of care nursing home in Calgary, is allowed to leave the home to go out for dinner. Same nursing home my MiL has to dress up like out of a scene from Alien to visit.

Her aunt apparently took him to earls last night. Fuck, that shit makes me mad.

What? 85% of our pandemic deaths are directly linked to nursing homes and these “locked down” people are allowed going to earls to go get sick and bring it home to the rest of the facility? This is the population we are trying to save by shutting our society down?

    What the actual fuck.
our system is so fricked up. The rules are insane. Elder care especially.

The people who don't want a lockdown are the elderly. They give no fucks from what I have seen.

3 ppl came in today no masks but they were just here for their pickup orders so grab and go. Glad 99% of my customers are solid. Keeps me from being canceled.

Picked up Chinese in invermere yesterday. I masked. Restaurant workers didn't, from what I see in town, nobody is. I will try to avoid town.

What’s your restaurant called? I feel like this is common beyond knowledge but I’ve always wondered since it’s never mentioned

The 'rona is hitting rural Alberta now. Big spikes in Drumheller, Viking and High Level. Has certainly seemed like small towns were taking fewer precautions based on my own observations.

Haha you should see the insanity on the Okotoks and high river FB groups at even the discussion of requiring masks.

The insanity is getting strong. The whole covid discussion I'm pretty sure belongs in the mental health during lockdown thread.

Swear to god it could mutate into the zombie virus now and people would be anti-mask / anti-bite-reporting.

    The zombies will win

Lacombe farmers market on Friday, my family wore masks, probably half the vendors did, 10% of attendees.

Yep, been looking at all those FB groups near High Level and the conversations are hilarious to see. So much blame game Karen's between the various towns, lol.
It was technically "safer" to be in those rural communities when Covid started as people were still concerned and took a lot of precaution. But now that everyone is in full summer mode, I am not surprised at all to see the surge in the small towns. It was inevitable based on the culture there.

I also saw so much double standards going on that it was just plain stupid. You have people who are sick going to grocery stores, and lots of people still not social distancing or wearing masks. Plus people who live in those areas frequently larger towns/cities like GP, Peace River, Edmonton, Calgary all the time even during Covid, so it was just a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.
