    Update is out:
    Friday, Oct. 30, 581 cases.
    Saturday, Oct. 31, 525 cases.
    Sunday, Nov. 1, 592 cases.
    Monday, Nov. 2, 570 cases.

Unfortunately this also comes with a drop in testing for some reason. Overall positivity has risen to 6.8% for the province and Edmonton is almost 9% positive rate.

Calgary has overtaken Edmonton now in new cases over the past week

Edmonton is holding at R 1. Calgary at R 1.2. Expect to Calgary to follow Edmonton in about 1-2 weeks. And that's before feeling impact of Halloween and the new less strict quarantine pilot project @ YYC.

    Hinshaw is disappointed.

I don't think thats right. With Calgary there is 1,642 cases in the past week with 2,532 active means we're a fair bit above R1.2. 1600 this week vs 900 the week is more like R~1.7. Edmonton is closer to steady state with 1,484 in the past week out of 2,581 active cases. 1480 vs 1100 is R~1.3.

I don't think we'll hit 1k/day that some people seem to be claiming, but we are still increasing the rate of cases. Hospitalizations up from 140 to 167 as well. 20% rise in 4 days isn't great.

Just quoting what Hinshaw said unless I misheard.

I don't think there is any more Hinshaw can do at this point and just start to prepare to pick who live and who dies in Dec.

Because this isn't a pandemic until we see more suffering. So we need more deaths to bring public opinions around.

What better way to show Alberta is a place you want to invest in when the government doesn't even care about trying to do at least something other than Hinshaw telling everyone to do better

Exactly. They need to feed Bennet that stuff a few more games a year.

I also like grape Gatorade. The blue windshield washer flavour is not for me.

Agree, blue is the worst Gatorade flavour.

I prefer to have this thread on top of the Maga thread so I will say that orange is my 2nd favourite color. It does upset me that it is easier to find the orange crystals in bulk vs the purple.

Still say I expect a noticable bump in numbers thanks to Halloween. (Over and above the rise already announced)

Skeletu The Human-Like Canadoctor recommends 3-layer masks if going fabric. Not 2, not 4, not even threeve. Three is the number. It have spoken.
It's November 3rd, just a quick 34 weeks after the pandemic really got going. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/thr...-tam-1.5787946

We're drugging our kids with Claritin so they can go to fucking school while people go to work with obvious CoVid and we're supposed to take masking lessons from a CroMagnon glory hole advocate, 238 days late.

    Fuck all the ducks.

The whole mask thing is a total fumble by WHO and everyone who listened to them except Asian and a few other countries.

Ended up the whole viral load study was dated back to the 1930s and we already knew masks will help the wearer to a degree for almost a century.

People keep thinking that you either get COVID or you don't, that it's binary, except you could get COVID at different severity levels and mask help reduce that.

The fact that 50% of Japanese without symptoms shows antibody support this conclusion.

Or it is their immune systems react differently to the virus because of their different dietary lifestyles, or they vaccinate less in Japan so maybe their natural systems function better against this particular virus, or maybe because they invented Godzilla the virus is scared to attack them aggressively, or etc etc...

By no means do I believe any of this nonsense I just posted above, but really... There are so many bloody variables at play you cannot make a statement like that even remotely conclusively.

Our positive test rate is starting to look pretty ugly
