I don't know about that. Personally i do base it off the limit because that's also how the tickets are structured. I can risk a 10 or 20km/hr over ticket, but 30 above tickets start to get way too expensive so i rarely go faster than 140 these days (even though i'd love to and would be comfortable with it). Maybe that's not how most people think though.
    Thats it.

No indoor social gatherings = people see a couple people here and there anyways.

Free for all = People throw parties to catch up with everyone

On a separate note though, wtf is going on with Mackenzie County. Population of the whole county is 11k people. Their cases per capita is 10x NE Calgary ... wtf

With all the parties going on without consequences and covid spread, isn't it free for all anyway?

There is no way to answer your question without saying something racist.

Lots of the rural folks I know don't GAF about many rules and I would guess that extends to COVID restrictions - just speculation though. Or maybe there are work camps up there which condenses the population?

That's weird, it's not like anything changed 10-14 days ago.

Have you checked out restaurants? Or did I miss your sarcasm?

Sarcasm. We did go out to a pub for the first time since last September, at the end of February, and I was unsurprised by the amount of tables with 6 people obviously not in the same household.

Let's say that I believe we could literally open everything on Monday back to 100% while maintaining mask mandates/encouragement and the increase in case numbers would be suppressed by the continuing wave of vaccinations without any additional drama.

If I believe this, am I alone? (Aside from the crazy people).

Is it really that crazy a projection compared to the comical projections the gov't has told us? The numbers would jump way up and the hospitalizations and deaths might just barely move. Many people would still choose to stay inside and take extra precautions.

I'm not saying I'm committed to this stance, but I think it may be less crazy than it sounds.
Sounds about right. Masks is about the only thing anybody is somewhat following still. Might as well open casinos where spread was nil, and let people go to hockey games.

Whether he is a troll/bot/alt whatever, the result is the same. I'm just trying to save people time who think they are going to have s useful exchange.
Lol. You might as well rope 5 or 6 other members in there too then, and ironically you're the most guilty of some of these useless exchanges with Kert(legit troll account). SportEL is harmless, at least he/she doesn't antagonize and argue with anyone like a handful of other users.

Making my brain hurt and my eyes water is not harmless. (Well, not anymore, one of two users on my ignore list).

I don't mind people being trolls - kert included. Kert clearly enjoys the debate and poking the bear, and he does not commit the one unforgivable sin: he isn't dumb.

Wait... Nothing really changed two weeks ago, did it? Wasn't that the "yeah, congrats - we're totally going into Stage-2*
    ...

    ...

*including fuck all of what was actually in Stage 2."

Haircuts and restaurants were back in early Feb.

I still stand by schools are the biggest issue. If you look we were steadily dropping from the time schools shutdown around beginning of Dec and then a month after they open we get our first spike that follows with increases. Same goes with the fall, beginning of October is when things all of a sudden start slowly rising again and building momentum.

It's difficult to establish causality, though:

    1. Is it because opening schools makes people subconsciously feel like we are okay, so behaviours become more risky?
    2. Is it all schools, or just high schools?
    3. Is it because people work from home less if their kids are in school?
    4. Is it transport to/from school or kids socializing more before and after school?

I think you'll get some Nobel prize if your figure these out with so many variables in flight

    recap:

Jan-Feb: OG COVID from China life as normal infection start to ramp up
Mar-May: Full lock down to deal with infection from OG. lack testing capacity
May-Aug: No school, no mask mandate, testing capacity ramped up
Aug-Oct: School with mask mandate indoor (except schools)
Oct-Dec: Halloween+Thanksgiving+cold weather did us in. ICU full
Dec-Jan: Full lock down variants starts to show up
Jan-Mar: School is back, some got vaccine, variant spread sped up
Now: We are following Europe and seeing a variant 3rd wave. The DNGAF crowd increased since vaccine is coming.

    TLDR

Our society literally isn’t structured to function without our universal 5-18 childcare program.
