Seems like prioritization on vaccination paid off, so at least we are not repeating deaths we have seen in Dec.
Still sucks for hospitals and staff tho.

Lose his base?? How can a conservative base vote for anything else? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I’ve had this conversation with a few people, if a conservative based person votes for NDP because they’re certain they would have done better is nuts. NDP would have had us shutdown much more, and since we’re ‘Berta - there’d be rodeos every weekend.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

The only sure thing the ndp would have done differently is spend way more money
Probably longer lock downs and less likely to reopen as quickly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But then again Horgan didn't really lock down until things got really bad. But at least he acted at least 2 weeks ahead of us.
Interesting to see political landscape when next election comes in 2 years. There is a reason AB gov ask the courts to cancel all the fines because if those cases drags out, it's increase the chances UCP will split again. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
NDP support hasn't change and if anything got stronger over this. If Kenney can't keep the rural area from starting their own party, we'll be back to a 3 horse race again.

Then being 2 weeks ahead is a stupid narrative. Their ICU peaked way earlier than us. BC announced surgery delays due to covid icu peak on April 12th. We delayed ours April 27th. Almost exactly 2 weeks apart. Both BC and Alberta is literally doing the same thing. If anything, we're doing more than BC. Their patios are still open and packed. Until the latest restrictions, BC had in restaurant dining open the whole time even tho we locked it down over the holidays. BC's positivity rate hasn't been under 8% since late October, and they're testing way less than us. Nobody talks about it because it's not a good narrative. Everyone wants to hear that Alberta and UCP is a shitshow, so let's just focus on the one metric (cases) that makes us look bad. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
When this is all over the narrative is going to be NDP good UCP bad for businesses like restaurants.

Nobody gives a shit about this pandemic anymore, especially the demographic that are most likely to spread it. That’s the problem. Since day 1, there have been parties and gatherings in my building. I said this in this thread 6 months ago, and nothing has or will change. How do you go about “enforcing” this? Are you willing to start knocking on doors, imposing curfews, checking license plates? Are you going to snitch on your neighbors?
The restrictions on the other hand are not based on any sort of scientific reality. They’re just political moves from a party that’s desperate to salvage any sort of credibility, especially with every news media outlet fanning the flames as hard as they can and making this place sound like Chernobyl.
Restricting outdoor activities is the perfect example of this. You’re not catching covid outdoors, unless someone is coughing in your mouth. All these restrictions achieve is preventing people from getting some fresh air/sun and having social interactions in a responsible way. The sheer stupidity of this is staggering.
When Quebec handed out $30,000 of fine at on party I’m sure people at least thought twice about going something similar. Just like traffic tickets most people at to scared or lazy to fight them so hand out as many as you can waste people who want to fight them collect from the people who don’t.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I just think arguments about restrictions are stupid when we don’t enforce the ones we have.
