No, that's not what it said.
It said that it was earlier this month; you know, when people were all still working, going to school, and eating out at restaurants. I would like to know where the article used the word "giant" and exactly how you define it.

I really hope that the govt charges everyone for these flights. It’s like that backpacking couple in Peru that was covered on cbc last week. Sounded like they had run out of money and was just playing it off as being stranded...
What I don't understand, is why are these people flown into Montreal and just let off? Any of these re-repatriation flights should require 14 days at Club Trenton, infected or not. Bill the the costs for the stay, which was around $40/night last time I stayed at the Yukon lodge.

It's okay though, he was a special community member and The_Rural_Juror was told by someone else on the internet that he was doing something important.
The only prayer meetings I hold are on my porcelain throne. Invites go out three times daily, but no one seems to to accept. I am definitely not a vector for community transmission.

Not sure where @rage2 post went. But looks like India is shutting down with 3+hr notice.

Wonder what the panic will be like the next few hours.

You guys are missing the big picture... Amazon is swamped - people are going to the amazon app instead of the store. Kind of a good thing as long as the delivery guy doesn't have covid-19

Intelcom delivery guy says they're even busier than they were on prime days right now.

I find it fully acceptable to hose the delivery driver do as he approaches my door. Since it is inhumane to spray someone down with water during freezing weather, I have resorted to using my fire extinguishers. I will have to pick up a few more on my next trip to Costco.

That's generally what exponential curves look like. Expect it to be triple that a lot quicker

Last Friday my mom who was staying at my house had to to fly home from Calgary to Penticton because her fellow is having severe medical issues (nothing flu related) and was on Westjet. There were 25 people total on the plane and as it turns out 5 of those people had just arrived back home from international flights from infected areas and they were allowed to get back on a small local flight to get home. Seems counter-intuitive compared to what they say is supposed to be happening.

Some friends are trapped in Peru. They had a whole few month trip planned they were on and then they were given 24 hours notice to leave Peru asap. They (and all their family members) tried to find a flight to book but there wasn't any space on any flight. So they ended up just renting a airbnb and hanging out waiting since. They tried to get on the first flight but it immediately filled up. Really hoping they can make it home.

They hard shut all their borders with 24 hours notice. No one can leave and fly home even if you're a Canadian citizen.

Otherwise from what I've heard our friends are doing well. They rented a nice vacation apartment and stocked up on groceries and just waiting it out.

Apparently they went as far as to arrest a bunch of people from Europe though idk how true that is.

Sorry, I've moved it to the work thread. Should've kept it here as well.

1.3 billion people on do not leave your home lockdown. 21 days. Logistics are still being worked out and people are confused with lack of information. How to get food, doctors, etc. The announcement came quick, lockdown being enforced 3.5 hours after the announcement.

They're expecting to keep borders closed after 21 days as well to eliminate subsequent waves. Guess I'm not going there for a while.

The density and sanitation in India makes it a huge risk for uncontrolled spreading. They had to take this very seriously.

Oh nevermind. You’re right, earlier this month.

Sad, what can you do. We definitely didn’t have any guidelines yet. Depending when it was, our first Alberta case was March 5th.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
