It depends: is your attitude "fuck everyone else"?
Again, you seem super worked up about how the government is handling this and seem to be attacking me and my implementation of the laws they set in place. If you feel masks should be mandatory call the decision makers and stop calling everyone else not in a mask a douche.

And for the record 5200 cases as of June 22nd in Calgary for 1.4 million people. What the fuck you worried about man?

EDIT: @Ca_Silvia13 whats the difference between a healthy person and an asymptomatic person?
A negative test result of course. Everyone can be tested at their own choice. No sense sitting a home wondering, go get tested.

Following the laws currently set in place makes me a douche? I follow all the legalities set in place for dealing with COVID, mandatory masks are not one of them. Sounds like your issue is with the government who sets said rules and not me personally. I'd write a letter to your MP for more strict public health orders.
Laws requires enforcement. Given current attitude towards masks, a mandatory call will overwhelm the police and potentially increase altercation related to enforcement. Last thing we need right now.

The best we can do is thru education and recommendation. And for areas that's easily enforced like air travel, mandatory mask is already law.

Also mandatory mask will also mean businesses will have to start providing them which may increase cost of doing business.

Unfortunately, a negative test doesn't mean much. And like @Buster said, antibody test is the real test. But early data is antibody only lasts 8 weeks for 1/2 the infected population, even less if you are asymptomatic. So surviving COIVD once doesn't mean you will not catch it again.

And given there are active cases all over the world, the spread back and forth could be perpetual like seasonal flu.

No, but it could be taken as "fuck some people" because it has to be sometimes. If masks are required for entry to a place, they'll have them on. If they aren't, they likely won't.
So this doesn't seem unreasonable to me, but it may be "douche" behaviour. Tread with caution.

Luckily, my work doesn't require me to visit many places, so I don't have to make that choice multiple times every day. In my personal life, I'm still choosing a path of minimizing my interactions, as that seem least likely to cause offense or infection, regardless of mask usage by myself or others.

Actually with current tests a positive test doesn't mean that much either. With low prevalence, positive tests become less and less valuable. As prevalence goes up, positive tests become more useful. (That is, as prevalence goes up, you have a lower chance of that positive being a false positive.)

No dude, I'm specifically saying your attitude sucks. I think your overall "get fucked" attitude is douchey and that's what I'm calling out.

Note how I didn't call Scott out for the same thing. It's because he's not being a douchebag about it. See the difference?

My attitude is inline with the currently laws. Pretty sure I've made that painfully clear at this point. You really come off as an old guy yelling at clouds now.

If you do a quick search in this thread, he comes off very hostile and becomes defensive whenever someone questions government policies. Apparently you are a douche if you don't wear a mask 24/7, in any circumstance despite what the recommendations are.

Well at least a positive test will take that individual out of circulation and immediately starts contact tracing which lead to taking more people out of circulation to reduce the spread.

But that's about it. If antibody really lasts only 8 weeks, without a vaccine that's proven to last longer, we will be continuing to take people out of circulation to minimize the spread.

False positives are problematic for a variety of reasons....not the least of which they confer a false sense of confidence.

The nurse told me between three to five days. I have read some others have had their results much earlier or later tho.

Yeah they said the same to us, but it was 24h. I think it depends on how many people get tested that day

This thread and my social circle say 24h to 7 days is the range.

I have an active dislike for people that can't take simple steps that may wind up being a benefit to those around them. Call it what you want, and feel free to embellish and throw around hyperbole if it gives you a little chub, bud.

If the govt is only suggesting and not mandating the masks, leave it to the businesses to decide? Idc so much if you wear one or not but I am doing my part to wear one as it makes sense to me
