But but.. I thought we had the best health care in the world???
Fuck this place. Ugh, I deserved to be born with a better passport. This country gives me the same queasy feeling as shopping at Walmart.

A Walmart would have better healthcare

Haha I agree with you on many things and have been half-joking on a lot of stuff but nothing is stopping you and your family from leaving if you are so discontent. Any excuse is just that, an excuse, no?

I thought Florida was like shopping at Walmart?

Jokes gonna be on America though when Canada fulfills the Hollywood prophecy of the safe haven from the zombie apocalypse though! Who is going to be laughing then??!

Mostly my family is here, and it turns out you can't just show up in another country randomly and tell them you are a citizen now.

Citizenship takes time but many places still accept. Sounds like the work is more hassle than tolerating what you dislike here.

That's why I find those who actually leave the country and start fresh successfully very courageous and admirable.

Well, let's hope these latest measures get the numbers to where the government wants them to be. Times suck right now, and they will suck even more with these new restrictions.

However, having thousands die would suck worse, so I'm reluctantly on board.

People who immigrate to new countries are generally impressive. People who talk about it, often less so.

What's nest is there's less talented people than you on this very forum who have emigrated from Canada successfully. Maybe they are just more motivated.

Having skills and/or money gets residence in pretty much any country. Citizenship is just a waiting game after that.

    Family is important to me.

I'm more like the guy in the movie that stays in the small town to manage the family farm. But instead of it being a story of redemption about discovering the charms of a bucolic lifestyle, it's a tragedy about how living without high speed internet and a legit liquor store actually sucks.

No means No. If they need your assistances, they should have moved in with you to ride this out after the 1st lock down.
I don’t read it like that. Flip lives alone and can have two close contacts, which would be his parents.

My reasons for staying in Canada are more along the personal and I'm not unsatisfied with my personal situation in general. Maybe it's because I didn't spend a lot of my early childhood in Canada, and went to high school in the US - but I do know that I don't participate in the grand Canadian self-delusion about our actual status in the world. People in Canada have some serious blinders on.

Flip is forced to choose between his parents and his temporary mate. Interesting.

I'll stop ranting about Canada now, it's not helpful or nice.

Chinese chefs are a scary breed, but I have found some white chefs who have made decent replicas of fried rice.
