Is there a breakdown somewhere that illustrates where cases are being transmitted?
Yes. And the majority of community spread cases were labels as "unknown".

I don't think I've seen the data published. It's only been what's been said at the updates. Excluding the unknown origin, 40% from private social gathering, <1% for restaurants, <1% for schools. Not sure where the rest of the 58% known cases break down to.

Link? Always curious to see what the known transmission sources are.

Yea, it's hilarious that people are assuming what the unknowns are, like some big conspiracy that the government is hiding the info. You can't make pointless rash decisions based on incomplete data.

I hope you aren’t alluding to our enjoyment of watching reddit meltdown over not being locked down by the government the hate being in line with an enjoyment of watching frontline staff strain
Maybe he's a frequent Reddit poster and felt personally attacked.

I don't think anybody enjoys watching frontline staff strain. I'd consider it apathy to the plight of frontline workers because people would rather get enjoyment about people on reddit complaining about the government's actions as frontline staff strain and deaths go up, than worry about what could be done about it. Plus they don't like people bashing their team, which is the most important thing.

People abuse the service dog thing to bring their pets on planes and in restaurants. If you're blind then all good.

Currently, roughly 85 per cent of active cases in the province have no identified source.

One of the updates last week have a pie chart and I'm sure it was like 45-50% unknown... obviously gotten worse then that. Also sounds like they just scrapped a bunch of contract tracing as they can't keep up. cool!

My bet would be a place where a lot of similar minded people gather en masse on a weekly basis. Say, every Sunday (and Saturday for some peeps)

    Also assisted living facilities.

topic for another thread, but ab is one of the last places that actually regulates what is required for a service dog for training. emotional support animals don't qualify for much here

Ive never heard lefties be so eager for Jason Kenney to tell them how to live their lives. Could have sworn they have been complaining about him doing that for years.
Ummm... That's not me. I believe you know this, but just verifying. I'm curious what the magic 8-ball is going to tell them to tell us, particularly if it pertains in any way to schools or daycare. That's all.

Not likely the Saturday/Sunday gatherings at places of worship, although some is possible, of course. There have been known outbreaks at places of worship--those were getting called out at one point (maybe they're not anymore for some reason). If some are hiding that they're spreading it at their places of worship, maybe they'll get struck by lightning. Pretty sure limits are coming on those gatherings anyway; there should be.

I do think it is more likely the young, invincible anti-maskers who are still throwing parties. They would likely never admit to doing things that would spread the virus, especially since it's just a flu anyway.

I bet teenagers are the single largest demographic if spreaders.

I'll bet 18-24 age. This is like prohibition and those people are out drinking and fucking. Regulations go out the window when there are customers lined up to pay for your illegal nightclub, or whatever.

They leave the unknown transmissions high and leave restaurants and schools down as the data shows that we should keep economy and schools open.

From what I have heard the education minister is not scheduled to be present , so less likely school changes . But who really knows at this point

I strongly doubt they will touch schools at this point. It seems the spread is not in school but congregating outside of school. I don't have data to point to on this, but controlling most kids in a school environment is likely better. Possibly I would suggest in the future that high school online may discourage teens from congregating as often.

I think you will see measures similar to the spring. If schools are going to close it will be in January, after we see what kind of spikes came from the holidays, which based on how people are acting they will probably be pretty high.

Nothing like being largely confined to your home for the coldest/darkest months of the year.

So the announcement is today at 4:30, right? What's the guess on lockdown measures here in Alberta? Full blown like March? Just the tip? What are you thinking?

The motivation to close schools/daycare is exclusively to force parents with kids aged 1-12 to be at home. Period.

It's not about infection rates in schools. It's the most effective way to staple people into their homes to stop them from running around catching and spreading Covid.
