That's not true. CoVID stats are gathered by home address, not those quarantine sites.

The NE numbers are combination of a lot of things, but all the Diwali gatherings (and there were a lot) added a huge number of cases and now exponential growth is ripping through all the multi-generational homes.

Nah I've been getting that spam message for weeks, nothing to do with the gov't.

It's the neighborhoods north of McKnight. Falconridge, Castleridge, Martindale, Taradale, Saddleridge, Skyview Ranch, Cityscape, Redstone, Cornerstone.
Well then tell me what they are doing with individuals who fly in international and test positive....
Can’t put em back on a plane and say “sorry we only count stats from your home address”

110% those quarantine sites will be counted.
Unless you can point me to some article or stat that says otherwise?

I mentioned it in my last post. If you go to the Alberta interactive info page then geospatial at the bottom it says how many cases (currently 276) are not included in the maps because of a lack of location data

Hey I'm open to information. How many beds can be adequately taffed? I mean, if they have a plan to have a maximum of 600 beds I would assume they have a plan on how to staff and equip them.
The plan is to start bringing cardiac and neurology procedures offline (emergency only) because those are the most ICU intensive parts of a hospital, so the staff can be reallocated from them to Covid ICU. Then down the line until they run out of the trained staff that are trained in ICU procedures and equipment.

There's really no indication that there was a plan for staffing 600 beds, just that they could equip 600 beds. It's not a direct 1 to 1 swap from a regular bed to an ICU bed, so regular staffing in a hospital isn't enough if more beds switch to ICU.

I really don't get why a mandated and good Alberta tracing app hasn't been developed yet? Is it because we're too O&G workforce heavy and not enough IT?? I kid!
But seriously, blunt force it to everyone's phone with a specific duration of expiry and I bet this helps immensely.
Screw the charter of rights for now and as long as it's a drop dead end date, should be good.

Edit: New thought, just make it mandatory that you can't enter a restaurant without having the app on. Start there.
People sitting at home don't need the app yet.

Even with super efficient contact tracing, would that really help reduce the spread that much?

You don't need recording to see Hinshaw has been muffles and some CMOH's advices has been ignored.

Even at 60% is better than none. But the error is dosage and not diverse enough sample size is concerning.

Im no Kenney or UCP fan, but their stock went up a notch with me with this statement:

Even as Alberta's case count grew so high that the province could not sustain its contact tracing system, Kenney rejected calls for more stringent measures and downplayed the deaths related to COVID-19."What you describe as a lockdown, first of all, constitutes a massive invasion of the exercise of people's fundamental rights and a massive impact on not only their personal liberties but their ability to put food on the table to sustain themselves financially," Kenney said.

Kenney said it was projected, back in April, that COVID-19 would be the 11th-most common cause of death in the province.
"And so currently, this represents a tiny proportion of the deaths in our province."

    From the po' man's MSM.

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...ings-1.5814877

The level of political direction — and, at times, interference — in Alberta's pandemic response is revealed in 20 audio recordings of the daily planning meetings of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) obtained by CBC News, as well as in meeting minutes and interviews with staff directly involved in pandemic planning.

Taken together, they reveal how Premier Jason Kenney, Shandro and other cabinet ministers often micromanaged the actions of already overwhelmed civil servants; sometimes overruled their expert advice; and pushed an early relaunch strategy that seemed more focused on the economy and avoiding the appearance of curtailing Albertans' freedoms than enforcing compliance to safeguard public health.
"The story tells me that the chief medical officer of health doesn't have control of the pandemic response [and] tells me that decisions are being made by persons who shouldn't be making decisions," said Ogbogu, who was given access by CBC News to transcripts of specific incidents from the recordings.

"It tells me that the atmosphere in which decisions are being made is combative, it is not collaborative and that they are not working towards a common goal — they are working at cross-purposes."

You don't need to assume, you only need to show up at 3:30 briefings. Hinshaw has said as much during Q&A although in a very polite and political savvy way.

That's a nice way to put it. lol.

I would be more worried if there wasn't a robust debate occurring in gov't over the pandemic. I would also be worried if the civil servants got to make all of the calls instead of the people we hired/elected to do that job.

    No kidding.

This works fine in theory, but what's stopping people from leaving their phones at home or simply saying they don't have one? Business going to risk losing sales because of something like that, I know I wouldn't.

Also, why does CBC keep quoting some axe grinding dude law professor. Like who is Ubaka Ogbogu? haha

Trust CBC to take a story that could be interesting with proper reporting and turn it into their typical partisan hackery.

That's how Koreans do it to bypass tracking.

And which is why Chinese do checkpoints instead so you can't go anywhere without your phone.

Yes. It helps us strike the correct balance in what to shut down. Today, we’re working on partial information, partly because we’re way behind right now, and partly because people are assholes and being uncooperative with contact tracers.
