My wife wanted to go walk around the university for some god awful reason today.

Full on depth of the pandemic here. Everyone wearing masks and scared to death.

    Hilarious.
Just one of many issues in today's university culture.

Students cannot afford to show anything other than virtue signalling.

If they actually get a real interview and the boss was a masker, it would be tough to get over it.

As for Boomers, you could have smoked maryjane for two years at Woodstock - and they would still hire you on the spot. Its just the way it is.

    Scouting younger models?

Only reason I'd go to campus is their bike shop program to use their tools that I don't care to purchase for bike maintenance.

I remember myself saying that I didn't care if other people wanted to still wear masks, as long as we all had the choice to do what was right for us. Turns out that was a lie. I definitely care when I see some imbecile with a mask on still. In my head I am silently judging them for holding the human race back.

it doesn't bother me one bit and I appreciate the fact we all the ability to choose. With what seems like 2 months of off and on colds my crotch gremlins are bringing home from daycare I've definitively put a mask on if I am snifflely and need to run out quickly. I would hope other people are doing the same.

You can't expect the general public to make intelligent risk assessments.

It doesn't bug me, but I do wonder why people still wear them liberally. The illusion of safety?

I wear one when I'm not feeling 100% but have to shop or go into a crowd. The people who annoy me are the ones wearing normal cloth masks to "protect themselves"

Because they're virtue signaling social trend whores. Just like the businesses with that big signs/social media posts that THEIR staff will be wearing masks no matter what this inept Provincial Gov't says because THEY care about your safety.

It's the current aids ribbon/pink campaign/insert your cause here.

I don't think they are virtue signalling. I think they genuinely believe they are protecting themselves with those shitty masks. Just look through Beyonds own threads to find many, many people who just didn't understand the pre-vaccine "My mask protects you, your mask protects me" system.

    This person makes me laugh.

Her risk of eating shit and smoking her head while riding that scooter is significantly higher than any harm from covid... let alone while riding outside.

No helmet + mask = El Oh El

Why are you making an assumption that she is wearing a mask cause of covid? masking is a very complex issue

Is it raciss to point out that Asians love masks and 8's? Neither of these things magical, but it seems part of asian culture to impart magical qualities upon them?

    Lol

As for the uni comments, only ever seem to have one person in each class wearing one, pretty much outliers in Deadmonton.

We'll see what happens when I am at UofA proper in the fall.

I don't think many of them are virtue signaling but they want to appear that way when they are actually being selfish and believe the masks protect themselves (the only people in the world they care about) while the rest of us are reckless and dumb.
But I can't find time to think about these things because I go to a Nissan Church where I pray for their reliability to become >100%...
