My suspicion is that as the number of cases increase, it is taking too many resources to update the numbers for each quadrant. Those people responsible for updating these numbers in the public health department are better deployed doing contact tracing of the new cases, so it makes sense that they would simply consolidate the numbers into larger geographic groups.
Dr Dee mentioned last week that they were looking at automating the process. I did notice a little bit of data for export today.

So fall is going to be worse than spring and summer? Fucking hell.
Remember that the mission of isolation is to slow the infections rate. The only savior now is if you don't die from it, antibody will last for a awhile until vaccine is found.

With the limited testing we are doing who is to say we have not hit 30% already.

The serology tests are cheap and fast. Our testing rate will go up by an order of magnitude or more in the next few weeks.

So if I get this thing, is it better to get it now while I can secure a nice comfy hospital bed and respirator, before it's too late and I'm on a cot in the Cowboys Tent double tapping into the same respirator as somebody else?

That's why we're in lockdown to avoid that scenario... As long as it doesn't mutate or they spring us too soon, that won't happen.

Yeah - and obviously if.everyone actually acted on what he said we would be there quickly. But in theory, he is right. If you are gonna get sick with this, now is the time.

But as long as we're in relative isolation and social distancing there won't hit NYC levels of need. Fairly easy in Alberta - that Urban sprawl and low density works for us in this case.

They're just figuring out treatment procedures, look at the x-ray diagnostic and patient positioning data that's come out this week.

If you can hold off until after we get lessons from NYC and LA - that's the best time... Russian roulette when we're still getting all the data together from china south Korea Italy and Spain? Maybe not the best survival plan.

I'd say you don't want to get this now. There is always a chance that later on it will mutate into something less deadly, in fact - its probable. The longer you wait, the larger the chance that they will have something better like a vaccine or at least some magic pill tailor suited to reduce symptoms.

This is where I ended on it. I think a vaccine is going to come well past the end of 2020, but effective treatments that mitigate some of the larger risks should roll out within a few months (I think).

Latest IHME model predicts 60K deaths in the USA. So bad flu season. They've been radically overstating deaths and ICU bed usage in previous models, so they're probably wrong again.

    Previous models included social distancing.

The way I read it is still in trial phase. And given we don't know how long antibody lasts, not quite sure how reliable this test will be. Also, having antibody is also not a confirmation you stop being contagious.

It will be a good tool to track it going forward to learn more about COVID19 but sure way to determine if you are ready to go back into the crowd.

Best case scenario for vaccine is Sep/Oct 2021. Worst case, SARS vaccine never pass stage 1.

Looking at France's curve and I don't trust the data on this site any more.

Similar story - can't confirm anything, but every one of my coworkers who never gets the shot got crazy sick for 2+ weeks and missed a bunch of work (some are still sick) and I am fine as per usual. I am now over 2 years without getting a cold/flu (knock on wood).

Usually the most obvious difference between a cold and the flu is a fever.

GF is a nurse and Emergency room wait times were over 10 hours on multiple days, largely due to people coming in with flu symptoms, didn't get the shot, and they wait 10 hours to be told to go home and get some rest lol.
I didn't end up getting the shot in 2017 and got really sick, prob influenza, and have since never missed one. All my coworkers who are "Flu shots make you sick" and don't get one, usually end up really sick every year after Christmas. It's the idiots who don't believe in them that usually end up spending a week home or in the ER.

Anyone actually going to travel this weekend? Invermere wants to close the border to you blood sucking red-plated Albertans.

There isn't a vaccine for the common cold, nor is there for SARS, correct? How do they expect to magically make one now? This flu will be around in different strains for a long, long time and we will just have to deal with it. Thanks China.

Have a family member With a place in Invermere. They said it gets downright violent if they go to the grocery store. They shop in Calgary now, drove straight there, park in garage and don't go into town at all out of legitimate safety fears.

The problem is most governments can't afford it. Our for profit research system will abandon research the minute it seems there isn't a market for it.

So if Russia and US and China stop building fucking missiles and air carriers and pool public funding on this would have done the world some good.
