Had a playdate scheduled with one of ym kids friends. Thier parent informed me they had "a cold, but were feeling better." I cancelled the playdate, since cold-like symptoms require a mandatory minimum 10-day quarantine. This family hadn't heard that. Weird . . . .

it's allergy season and they expect everyone with a runny nose to quarantine for 10 days? Sorry arrest me.
Well, that's the wording of the public health order.
I know personally, I would know the symptoms of a cold and how they vary from my normal allergies. I would treat these "not allergy" symptoms differently.
I guess folks have to do thier best.

Interesting case. Yes I know this isn’t scientific and doesn’t prove anything, but somewhat compelling:
2 hairdressers were infected and didn’t know it, so they had to contact all 140 customers they had appointments with. 0 got infected, neither did any other staff. All were wearing masks, including customers.

In the very near future people will just stop getting tested for every cough and snizzle. Can’t have positive cases if you don’t go get tested. Majority of symptoms in people are extremely minor, why would someone risk forced self-isolation, including possibly their working spouse, for 14 days if you have minor common cold type symptoms? You’ll only see the very extreme cases go to hospital. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

On the flip side, during the early days of the pandemic there were loads of planes with infected passengers. No one had masks. They tested the people sitting directly around them and no one tested positive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

His mom's freaking that I'm following the rules. Apparently it's torture that I'm making him stay inside until Monday.
It's weird how some people I know seem to be all about making other people follow the rules (and the suggestions that are not rules, like masks) until it becomes inconvenient. I used to think people were taking this seriously as a health emergency, but it feels like not.

The number of people guilting me this week "sorry he was sick last week, AHS says 10 days isolation" telling me it's not covid so just let him run... Is phenomenal. Our second wave will be huge too the way people think it's nothing serious. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I've had it and I started wearing a normal mask at the grocery store just so the little old ladies don't get upset if I forget and get too close. Because it's polite.
But I'm sheeple I guess
Calgarians will also definitely want to add humidity in the cool season, especially if you add an air purifier.
