Good Medcram. Data on masks is starting to become pretty compelling for masks. They are pretty certain that it is because a mask doesn't prevent ALL exposure (they aren't 100% effective at eliminating virus particles), but they do enough to reduce the viral load you inhale to a certain degree. Viral load that hits you is correlated to the severity of the disease. In other words filtering out some portion of the virus with a mask will make you less sick or perhaps asymptomatic.

    TLDW:

    No mask: 66% infected.
    Mask: 25% infected

The math almost check out that Richmond BC has 3x less community spread than rest of Canada.

So it's not 0 but less spread and less severed.

yes, what surprised me was that the reduction in load could have a moderating effect on the infection. It's not just about prevention, but reduction in severity.

    Cool stuff.

Wear a mask, for fucks sake

What worries me: Covid brain fog and short term memory loss are verified now. If a banker comes down the the Covids and forgets he/she made a billion dollar transaction somewhere is it useable as a legal defense?

Secondarily: It better no be my billions that the banker loses.

Whole family had a covid test yesterday and I was hoping we would get the results today but I am not surprised that we didn’t. I feel like ahs notification staff don’t work on sundays.

Hoping for a call tomorrow morning then. I personally had no symptoms neither did my oldest daughter. My youngest daughter had diarrhea and a scratchy throat but then again 5 year old kids are very subjective.

What’s the turnaround time for these current tests they are administering. Ie I know that ahs is taking 2+ days to get people the results but from test taken to positive or negative is that time known?

We’ve been tested twice, both times I had a robocall in 36-60 hours and the first time the results came in on a Sunday, tested Friday evening. The second time we got the kids tested as well, they verbally called with the negative results for my wife and kids.

    Whatever it is, it's ridiculous.

We're using a highly sensitive diagnostic test, which is completely ill-suited for public health surveillance. Gov'ts and regulators are scratching their heads about how to approve these things because apparently they never considered that a pandemic would require surveillance testing....so they literally have no regulatory pathway to approve surveillance tests.

Lol so you were negative but in those 8 days you caught it and are spreading it. Great.

And on a lighter note. Man lives in luxury stadium box for two weeks:

I'm looking forward to needing to test my kid every time she sniffles this fall. And wondering how many days she'll be banned from school.

This seems more disruptive than putting kids into the Hub program from the start, at what point will parents/students start hiding symptoms because this becomes unsustainable?

I can only imagine what the work landscape will look like, 'oh hey boss, yea I can't come in for the next 2 weeks cause sussie/johnny has a runny nose, yessir I know we have meetings today/etc'

Well, if you have any method of surviving the school year with your kids being home-schooled (which is really what hub means for younger kids), then you are probably right) I'm banking on being able to be in the ofice maybe 50% of the time through the school year, which would be a huge improvement to how it's been so far.

Hiding symptoms is going to be a thing right from day one I suspect. Don't worry though folks, my current guesstimation is that school will be shut down again by Halloween, maybe even Thanksgiving. The domino effect of one or two kids and or a teacher getting sick with pretty much anything is so disruptive that I can see the house of cards falling quite early.

Teachers will need to be away from school a hell of a lot mroe than a normal year. Teachers get loads of colds from the disgusting children, and mostly they just "play through it", which won't be an option this year. If you are a substitute, you might get a lot more days. Think that's right @MalibuStacy ?
