Start drinking now to numb the pain. You know it's happening.

Or maybe vaccinated kids can go back to school, and unvaccinated can be homeschooled by their brilliant parents.
My BIL lives in New Jersey and apparently they're (or maybe a neighbouring state?) are requiring vax proof/neg test from kids to send them to school.

that would be a best case... but would never happen in Canada...

My sister is a teacher in Sask and i was talking to her about this and she said they cant send kids home that have head lice cause of discrimination and access to education .... so a vax requirement to enter the school will never happen.

Online schooling is still access to schooling.

This would be the easiest solution, but given that the government has been staunch with their position that parents know best so no vaccine mandate for kids who's parents won't get them vaccinated. It's the wrong choice, but it's what they've been sticking with.

Heading into the Christmas break, ensuring all teachers had priority for boosting, a drive to enure as many students were vaccinated as possible, was the simple logistical solution to the problem staring them in the face since early December. Ensure as many kids have coverage as possible (ideally fuck what their parents think), teachers are protected and you reduce the main problem of them getting sick all at once and not having enough substitutes to cover, which as far as I can tell is the only real driver for the decision to delay school or going online for any length of time. Because even with a 5 day quarantine, if 25% of the teachers and school staff get caught up at the same time the system gets fucked for those 5 days anyway and it's much harder to manage. So if there's a delay it's to see how the Omi spread pressure will affect staffing levels coming out of the break, and better to have an 'organized' disruption now than a random one further into the term.

It’s access to the least important aspect of schooling.

Yep. Pretty sure if I had to do high school online, I would've failed.

Yes, but it would maintain any legal requirement to keep access to education available.

If we are accepting glorified YouTube videos as an education system then I can think of some massive cost reductions we could implement.

The government isn't interested in that kind of thing. See: AHS.

I sense just a touch of sarcasm there...

I think the government got enough flak from the anti-vax crowd as it is with what they already did. Now honing in on the kids would probably instigate domestic terrorism, as many members of this crowd aren't exactly put together quite right in their head to begin with. Besides that, I'm not sure stupid parents teaching their kids is going to do anything but bring down our collective national intelligence and create issues in the future.

As I said before, the governments need to think long-term now. Is it realistic to limit non-vaxxed people from mingling with others indefinitely? (I'd say not). Does the data back up any indications that this has a chance of ending inside the next year or two? (I'd say not, but really don't know). These variants have changed the game entirely, and the original course of action was based on old data and predictions which didn't come true. We are continuing to implement the same measures we did at the start of all this. Measures which have already proven to be somewhat ineffective.

Time for some outside the box thinking.

Probably no room on the form. White space taken up explaining why the YoY increase and it's in range of other Canadian cities.

Florida is opened up and people aren’t lining the streets. leterrip2022#

Some will die but that’s the risk I’m willing to take.

Any doses of current vaccine won't stop break thru but severe outcome for the vaxxed is extremely low.

Omicron is basically nature's answer to antivaxxers by wiping out Delta. Let her rip indeed. The more we slow this down, we are prolonging the pain.
