    Well yes, likely.
you should recognize that if yearly.deaths in Canada haven't changed drastically from the standard deviation, then this isn't as bad as you make it sound. It's not even bad at all.
I think he was being sarcastic.

It should be noted that we are hitting records in lack of flu cases. No known community transmission so far in all of Canada, which means far less killed by the flu this year - perhaps zero. So, no, you can't just look at deaths and call it a day... there are many factors, and the lack of flu is just one of them.

Secondly, you're falling into the false narrative so many like you attempt: Only 13g have died of Covid in Canada. Not a big deal, right? Wrong. You have to keep in mind that the number of deaths and infections are mitigated by everything we ARE doing to fight Covid. Its the same reason flu is down to almost nothing. The measures are working. Not well enough for government officials, but I suspect the numbers are higher than they would like primarily due to people with your attitude, as opposed to people who are doing everything they they can to limit spread.

Had we done nothing, deaths would be exponentially higher... to the tune of ten times as much or possibly more. Population of a medium city.

Still seem insignificant to you? If so, you have bigger problems than I thought. Your logic is terribly flawed, yet you strut in here like you are woke. You aren't woke. You're just wrong.

That's what Canada thinks about Alberta. He's just saying it.

Yeah every single year things get like this where they start mobilizing field hospitals because ICU space is becoming critical.
Field hospitals are just an indication of limited permanent infrastructure and staff. This was an issue even before Covid started.

So 1,500 active cases out of our total 18,000 active cases are kids in school ... so how exactly are we still sticking with schools aren't a significant source of transmission.

They believe the kids are getting it from home.
You know... When your home has 13 other people in it and/or your whole family still goes to magic building twice a week to appease SkyMan?

Somehow they're confident it's not transmitting within the schools. But they were very confident it was transmitting at hockey/sports.

You're right. Though I am actually pleased with how comparatively schools are contributing as opposed to my expectations. Kids don't keep away from each other, and they are slobbering, screaming messes. I put my son in school with a lot of apprehension, but it's worked out better than I thought. So far. It could all fall apart quickly. Still, schools obviously are a notable source - how could they not be.

And yes, churches. Really, anywhere people gather in mass and/or in close quarters. Rallies and demonstrations, health care, dental, home gatherings - all risky stuff.

I was thinking how truly incredible it is that science has gotten to the point where we can address a virus like this and have a vaccine available in this kind of timeframe. It can't come soon enough of course so this shit can go away, but really though - this would have sucked uber bad not that long ago. Imagine years of these restrictions if we couldn't find the vaccine this quickly What? What if back in the pre-vax days herd immunity was never properly reached and the deaths mounted over decades or centuries? Wonder how many civilizations succumbed to disease.

Science is truly a marvel. Yet we still have a while to mature as a civilization.

Time to go back and watch contagion again... Hockey rink scenes...

If people don't start pulling their heads out of their asses - it's going to get bad, it's exponential growth... Governments not asking for field hospitals because we're ahead of this and nothing's wrong... Clearly the data shows it's going to get bad, people aren't going to isolate over Christmas and we can expect the worst.

They're already using it, just not for Covid patients. Pushed emergency room stuff to the temp building so that ICU could be expanded in the main building.

Neither app is doing their jobs. Provincial because of technological barriers, federal because it’s voluntary. The usage rate is ridiculously low outside Alberta. Here we can’t even keep covid positive people from leaving their homes, hilarious to think that they would apply for a code and enter it to keep you aware lol.

This shit is just a distraction.

We can measure 'staying at home' by having "drastic health effects" but Covid should only be measured by deaths?

There are drastic health effects of Covid that don't result in death as well. When it's bad enough to push ICU capacity to the brink it will have a ripple effect on everything else that needs the healthcare system as well.
Which is all completely irrelevant to my statement. But ok.

I'm still surprised at the lack of focus to protect the most vulnerable, the elderly. (Yes, I understand that young people can get sick too.) Cases are going up which isn't good but more concerning, hospitalization and ICU patients are increasing along with the death count. Reading the daily updates, the death counts are predominantly from nursing homes and long term care centres, this seems to be continuous.

    From the Alberta website:
    Summary
Average age for COVID cases that died is 82 years (range: 27-106)
Average age for COVID cases hospitalized with an ICU stay is 61 years (range: 0-89)
Average age for COVID cases hospitalized is 62 years (range: 0-104)
Average age for COVID cases not hospitalized is 36 years (range: 0-108)

74% of Hospitalizations are over the age of 50. 59% over 60.
79% of ICU patients are over the age of 50. 62% over 60.

Outbreak data also continues to point at very specific facility types
Calgary Outbreaks ~55/82 are longterm care or supportive living centres
Edmonton Outbreaks ~60/87 are longterm care or supportive living centres

A lot of people want more restrictions and to further lockdown and close down malls, schools and businesses etc. With that being said, has there been enough done previously and currently to protect this vulnerable demographic? The same vulnerable demographic is expected to get the vaccine first, and I agree with this, but it doesn't appear that there has been much of a focused response for this demographic and or the workers who interact with them. On that note, maybe the workers are now wearing biohazard suits upon entry to minimize the probability of bringing the virus into these centres? I doubt the seniors are heading to the mall, Costco or local high school and catching the virus there.

    Flame suit on.
    I like neat cars.

That's equally terrible logic(worse actually). Taking wild guesses and trying to pass them off as facts is not really logic at all.

And comparing covid deaths between lockdowns or no controls is senseless. The death rate is the death rate, period. You can lock everything down to spread that death rate out over time, or open things up and get it over with in a shorter time frame.
