I just hate masks and the perpetual booster shot scenario. Both can fuck off, I did my part and I'm done.

Exactly, I feel cheated by the forever moving goalposts, and beginning to think the schizos were right all along.

This is not entirely true. You need a mildly complex algorithm of symptoms to require isolation. But, yes - it's surprising what ticks enough boxes.
Most single-symptom issues do not mandate isolation.
More info if you’ve got it.

    Edit:

In the past 10 days, have you experienced any of the following:

    fever
new onset of cough or worsening of chronic cough
new or worsening shortness of breath
    new or worsening difficulty breathing
    sore throat
    runny nose
loss of sense of smell or taste

    Click yes, next page:

You are legally required to immediately isolate. You are recommended to be tested for COVID-19.

If you DO NOT get tested, you must isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms AND until symptoms have resolved (whichever is latest).

If you do get tested, you must isolate pending your test result. Visit ahs.ca/results for further information on next steps following the test result

    Definitely similar sentiment.
Coming from a guy who's never been flu vaccinated.

Anyone who lived through the post-911 policy disasters should have seen this coming from miles away. There is a subset of the population (Karen’s, AWFL’s, etc.) who’s #1 priority in life is to stay safe and require politicians to ACTIVELY do something about a situation. This puts politicians in a place to swing around a sledgehammer because a vocal portion of their voter base want to see something get done.

It’s been discussed many times in these threads how we could have got past covid without overwhelming our healthcare system many times. At this point we are stuck with a bunch of politicians who retained/gained power by appealing to the lowest common denominator, and we won’t move past it until the perpetually afraid, low info voters tell the politicians we should be allowed to. Expect nothing to drastically change for vaccine passports, masks, etc. until we’ll after flu season is over.

Kenney's announcement tonight for Christmas restrictions just got scrapped as there will be an emergency call with the PM at 4PM. Rumor is that it's federal travel restrictions and a ban on non-essential travel.

Exactly. And so many did see it coming, unfortunately the majority of the population is stupid.

I'm sure it's another absolutely worthless assault on everyone based on nothing but everything finboy just so rightly stated. And it's never going to end.

Well, the latest drivel from Trudeau was that Omicron is scary, but once Canadians get through winter "summer will be better".

So more bullshit about needing to hold on "a few more months", when that's pretty much identical to what he said this time last year.

It’s interesting watching the tides change. It wasn’t so long as a few months ago that anyone that had a divergent point of view on this forum was sent to the virtual gulags (excluding a few obvious idiots).

Even r/Calgary has done a complete 180. Wild.

I gave all the fucks I have to give about this stuff.
If I were to hypothetically have minor illness symptoms, I would stay away from my workplace until they cleared up, just like I've been doing for the last 20 years.
I continue to wear a mask anywhere that legally requires me to do so, and nowhere else.
I have had two vaccinations, and my annual flu shot, like every year, and I will continue to take vaccinations offered to me as my inclination and schedule allow.
I don't see the point of testing, and I don't see the point of restricting my local social activities.

My attitude started to change when vaccinations became available to the entire adult population. For me personally, that was a huge turning point. Now that vaccinations for kids down to 5 are available, I see zero point in restrictions and testing.

Fun litmus test for you, if someone says “follow the science” but also says “I’m afraid of omicron” or “I don’t want to be in a restaurant with anyone who isn’t vaccinated” you have a pretty good sense for their understanding of “the science”

Ironically if they impose new travel restrictions that slows the spread of omicron in Canada, this could end up prolonging the pandemic. Just let er rip already. More good info from the "DOC"

the subset of idiots on that page are the exact people that Finboy was talking about, so this can only be a good thing

just hope it doesn't resort to a few dead cops after a couple of mass riots, to hammer the point home that we've had enough

Basically my stance. I've been living life as normal as I can and very little hiccups along the way doing so. Essentially no mask anywhere except for flights and it's been great.
