At least this will help open people's eyes to all the severe lacks of quality and availability in our supposed "free" healthcare utopia everyone thinks is so great.
There are many factors at play. The biggest problem (in the US anyways) is the inability to manufacture enough test kits. This is more of a globalization issue as there’s shortages in supplies needed to make the kits as they’re coming from Europe and Asia. Offshoring manufacturing is what’s hitting us hard right now.

I’m not sure what the expectation is in a pandemic, building a heath care system that can handle something like this is kind of overkill. We’d (including me) would be just be bitching about AHS waste during normal times.

Can you elaborate? Like 10,000 people dead in a month?

Thats definitely 'big' and worthy of the response.

San Ysidro looks like its close to closing. Its funny because if Corona is slowed by warmer temperatures, and the Coast is a strong incubator - people might abandon the USA for Mexico. Or at least escape LA for Ohio.

Meaning: If you have money, of course stay in the USA. But if you aren't making more than $40,000 in the USA (or lets just say 75% of the population) - you might actually get better healthcare in Mexico. Will people abandon the USA for Canada? Will people abandon Canada for the USA?

368 in Italy since yesterday, 633 world wide. Total of 6456 so far. Definitely the biggest daily jump.

South Korea's numbers have flattened, and death rate has dropped.

Well the avg since I've started tracking it Januray 20th is 100 per day. So, many times more than that already today is a big day, since there are over 600 so far.

NS just announced school will remain closed for 2 additional weeks after this week of march break. Day cares closed starting tuesday, Casinos closed, VLT in bars closed, Recommended workers work from home. etc

Its the American way to shoot people at 1,000 feet without knowing their names, just on assumption they have something because they are sneezing or coughing. Or drop bombs just because they don't like the way you spend your money. Or if you are Mexican.

    Just a reminder.

    YAAAAAAWWWWWWWNNNNNNNN.

At this point, fuck all this quarantine crap. Business as usual, if you're sick you lay in bed until you're dead or better.

For Italy I would think so as they are at 7.3% death rate. It we be interesting to see the studies down the road as to why it hit them so much harder.

I read about their average age being high there. But it is starting to seem like maybe they have a genetic marker that makes this virus much worse for their bodies compared to other cultures.

Hardly any testing done there, Italians and Spaniards are much worse at taking instruction than virtually anybody else on matters of hygiene (I could imagine this having the opposite intended effect in those countries actually), and they have a fuckton of old people.

    Totally culture thing.
I mean, I wonder how much they really changed their ways of greeting one another.

Might not even have to be a genetic marker. This thing attacks the lungs, so any smokers are going to have a tougher time fighting it. I'm not sure if anywhere is looking too deeply into medical history of the dead yet, as they're too busy still fighting for the living.

Yes smokers are getting their asses kicked. That's why China's death rate is so high too.

Trumps conference right now, went on about the federal reserve for like 2 mins about them lowering their interest rate to 0%. He's also telling people not to hoard food and panic buy. I hope their next president is more articulate.
