I've heard that's horrible. I've also heard there is a different manner of testing now, is that incorrect?

    Also, good luck.

Its a throat swab not a nose swab. Its pretty painless tbh.
The people that I know have been tested said it went up their nose. I hope it is throat tho. I guess I'll find out in a bit here. I'll give an update.

WHO's flip flop on the stance knows this is how it will go down. Supply restraint aside.

Good luck. It's nose swap but it goes all the way back to the throat/airway. Haven't done it myself but seen enough videos of it.

Well if I were aware I was in the highest risk categories I would certainly make it my business to have a fairly solid estimation, which seems to now be possible, of where my greatest chances for danger were and try to avoid them.

Instead you have morons like someone I know out here who is significantly immunocompromised and posting about how "not enough restaurants are being as thorough as I want them to be for MY safety and I'm mad as hell about it". No buddy, fuck you. They're meeting basic minimums as established by the Gov't and trying not to go out of business so just don't go to them and go where YOU feel safe. You're vastly less healthy than the majority, is that fair? No. Is that EVERYONE else's cross to bear on your behalf? Also no.

There's a balance. The world can't stay shut down forever regardless of our personal feelings and experiences.
Given that we have been at war with peanut allergies, I'm not surprised that's a position someone will take.

People need to understand that not everything is a right but only a privilege. Anyone who is immucompromised are basically locked in until vaccine is found and should adjust their life accordingly.

One whackadoo guy I know has posted that the masks are part of phase 1 in the Muslim takeover of NA and even posted a graphic showing how the facemask "design" will change over the next 3 years to groom our women for mandatory headcoverings.

    Yes I am being serious.

Alberta is a throat swab, other provinces / the states use a nasal swab.

It's a throat swab. At worst you will gag for a split second.

You book online, and if you have symptoms you go through a drive through, if you don't you go inside. Takes 2 minutes and isn't bad at all. They tell you 3-4 days for results but in most cases it's next day.

We got tested Friday morning with throat swabs, and had the results 24h later. Must have been a slow day at the lab.

The tester told my wife it was weird she had no gag reflex, and she blushed. I appreciated the compliment. I gagged so hard I almost puked.

Especially when Fauci confirms they downplayed the use of masks because they knew supply would be an issue

What's interesting is that while it's pretty commonly accepted that mask wearing in public will reduce everyone's risk, there's certain activities that make ZERO sense with a mask. Like visiting brewpubs, or my favourite, some buddies of mine went on a pedal pub tour. You aren't going to wear that mask for 8 hours of driving and cardio. But the activity is permitted by AHS . . . .

But if I'm strolling around the pharmacy, I should have a mask?

So, things where you can't/won't wear a mask are fine, but we should all wear a mask everywhere else for what I think are lower risk activities? I am confuse.

I think its just common sense? If you are drinking/eating then masks aren't really feasible. It makes no sense to keep taking the mask on and off so staff are required to wear masks. Other activities, like going to a pharmacy you can wear a mask the whole time without interfering with the activity. It's not a perfect system but its balancing trying to protect people as much as possible while also having life continue on.

Is that common sense? Huh, I guess I don't have as much of it as I thought.

In one scenario, you're surrounded by a bunch of other people that opted into the experience. Who you are around is predictable.

In another scenario, you are around randoms and thus the experience is not predictable.

It seems pretty obvious to me: wear a mask at the store, don't wear a mask in a car with friends. Wear a mask in a public setting, don't wear a mask when eating at a restaurant with friends.

I really think people are overblowing both the complexity and impact to their lives.

Yup. The worst are the idiots that claim 'Everyone I see wearing a mask is doing it wrong so I refuse to wear one myself'

Either they're admitting they're idiots and can't figure out how to wear a mask or they're a narcissist and think they are more important than anyone else.

Perfect example of the government failing to lead and set firm rules. If masks are not 100% mandatory then fuck off with this you should wear a mask stuff.
