Our positive test rate is starting to look pretty ugly
Is it possible that the positive rate amongst people testing is climbing because people are getting better at self assessing so more people without actual covid symptoms are not bothering any more and more people who are virtually symptom free other than noticing their taste is weird are deciding to go get tested?

I mean no doubt we are spiking right now, but the actual rates of positive tests versus the amount of people getting tested can absolutely be skewed in this regard, no?

By no means do I believe any of this nonsense I just posted above, but really... There are so many bloody variables at play you cannot make a statement like that even remotely conclusively.
It will take a while (years) for the real smart people to draw this conclusion. There are many factors. A less tactile culture may also contribute to this but given 50% people got COVID unknowingly and they live in a city that has 4x more dense than typical North American ones, I don't think less hand shakes/hug/kisses will save you from being stuffed into a train/subway car for 15-30mins at a time with thousands of random people twice a day.

As for viral load, I'm sure we have mentioned this about 200 pages back.

    https://www.medpagetoday.com/infecti.../covid19/88692

The "variolation" hypothesis holds that, at some level, the inoculum overwhelms the immune system, leading to serious illness. With less than that (and the threshold may vary from one person to the next), the individual successfully fights off the infection, with mild or no clinical illness.
In a study of Syrian hamsters, for example, those infected with a higher dose of SARS-CoV-2 had worse outcomes compared to those infected with smaller amounts of virus.

Masked hamsters were also shown to be less likely to get COVID-19 illness than those without masks, a separate study found. And if they did acquire the illness, it was more mild.
TLDR, how you get fucked still depends on your immune system. But less viral load give you a better chance in that fight.

So recommending 1 more layer in your mask basically subscribing to viral load theory.

Of course as for people who don't like masks, things are looking up too. There is also signs that Sweden's take is the way to go but we need Europe to finish with 2nd wave before we have contrasting data. But Sweden's way requires the public completely trusting the government and be ok with the death numbers. I'm not sure of our elected officials here and people can stomach that because it's easy ammo of opposition party in following elections.

I think we are only testing symptomatic and people known to have in contact with confirmed cases. So the number is still a good approximation of infection rate in the gen pop while not as good as when we were testing asymptomatic people.

But you can see the collation with the % going up and health care workers getting infected and units shut down in hospitals.

I’ve heard Hotel Arts has a nice setup from people I know who have organized a stay home date night.

They're hunting down minks in Denmark. Probably with the aid of masked hamsters.

Should start a rumour that mutations have been discovered in voles.

They are open because I take my kids to swimming lessons at hotel pools. Usually the pools have notices on them that they have to have a booked timeslot to use it.

The swimming program operates at approx 20 pools across calgary.

It was in a Human though... I can't imagine this should affect them unless animals were dying of it everywhere of which there is zero indication.

It's not domestic customers that's problematic. Countries hear "Swine Flu" and start shutting down imports.
