Be very interesting if there's a big bump in deaths or at least ICU load by early October. Or if schools opening has little effect aside from case numbers and union/NDP press releases.
Give it 2 weeks and we'll know. There's been no community spread reported in schools yet, but still too early. Expecting schools with older kids to spread quickly, and about 2 weeks to go through the whole incubation, symptoms, test, and positive results timeline.

2 weeks for rhe trend to start, another 1 week for any potential exponential growth.

If it doesn't show up, lift all restrictions and let's get on with life.

That would be incredible if the latter. Party time. There’s a subway next door, you get the subs and bring it over.

I spent a bit trying to sift through the hysterical headlines about Sturgis and hopefully I'm wrong, but is it the fakest news of 2020?
It seemed to me that all the "250,000 cases linked!¡!!¡11!!" is quietly stated as being based on a statistical model and not peer reviewed, etc. Digging a little deeper the facts seem to clearly show it's hundreds of cases. Not thousands, not tens of thousands and certainly not hundreds of thousands.
The thing happened a fucking month ago! The cases should be well known and counted and getting back under control rather than a silly prediction of uncontrolled, exponential growth. This is horrendously irresponsible "journalism" to report such high numbers.
Remember when Premier Randy went on TV and said we'd likely be looking at 800,000 cases in Alberta by May/June? What fucking EIT is running these simulations? (Obviously, a future piping stress engineer...)

Can someone help me see if I am incorrect?

I'm not brining subway to a fine dining establishment. Maybe just feast night private dining at 9:30PM? Or at least, bubblemainia/ Mug Shotz for some chickens.

I wish. The nature of exponential growth is that by the time you see it, you're already most of the way to being fucked

Agreed.......After driving by a high school during lunch yesterday, they are going to be the sole reason if there is a major uptick...it was like an underage orgy with clothes on.

Well, fucked in that we se a large spike in CASES, or we see a large spike in the number of deaths. Because I'll be honest, if it's cases, I think we should get at it.

I haven't been concerned about deaths for some time. I AM concerned about long term health impacts of Covid that seem to impact young people just as much.

'Cause I told you my level of concern
But you walked by like you never heard
And you could bring down my level of concern

People turning into zombies. I do enjoy people not lingering in the grocery stores. Get your shit and go.
Plus side of the pandemic. Also, WFH = more time outside and no wasting time on commute. Eating out less and eating junk less, I'm probably in the fittest state since mid 20s.

It also gives me a preview of what retirement can potentially feels like.

I had hope before Aug. Not any more. We never did enough to get to the baseline needed to go into fall/winter.

My 11 year old says "ok boomer" to me all the time. I have not successfully convinced her that I'm barely in GenX territory, let alone Boomer.

Those that keep crying to lift all restrictions ... what exactly do you want? Like, there are limited capacities on things but most restaurants aren't at capacity anyways, gyms are open, theaters are open, some music events are happening again, offices are opening back up, etc.

Really the only things are the 14 day quarantine upon returning to the country but you can just do trips within Canada for now. I guess if you are from the maritimes its a pain. But beyond that ... life feels pretty normal atm aside from wearing masks at businesses which unless you're a whiny bitch doesn't affect life.

I'm not in favour of child abuse but doesn't that just make you want to smack the little twerps! No??? Just me I guess.

People think the only thing holding our economy back is the restrictions. Meanwhile 1 in 4 Albertans are on CERB, and can't pay their mortgage/rent, let alone go out for drinks.
