My wife lol’d at that headline.
I guess that happens when the board has spent the last 6 months fear mongering their staff into not wanting to come to work because they think it isn’t safe.
Happens when gov't basic income is more than your hard earned money.

Just imagine what a utopia it will be when the basic income is enough that nobody really needs to work. I think society will function great!

For substitute teachers? No chance. Their pay is still ~$200 per day and if they hit three days in a row at the same assignment their rates go up (depending on years of service).

Doesn’t even have to be more. I assume most people would take a fair haircut to spend their life on Vacation.

What’s going to be really bad is next summer when all the covid fraud catches up to people (those extra boxes on the ol’ T4 are going to lead to a might big cash call for a lot of people)

There are legislated rules for the refusal of unsafe work and for recall from temp layoffs, time for employers to start following these to the letter.

So they have to work 10 days in a month to break even. That sounds like it isn't enough to chance getting covid from a bunch of shithead teenagers who don't follow any of the protocols outside the school.

This is supply and demand. If $200 a day isn't enough to entice them, they need to up the offer.

Yup, our accountant is already asking payroll data to get ahead of the extra work the CRA is going to validate monthly earnings (instead of just yearly) for employees.

My wife received a letter from the Ontario College of Teachers, which she is still a registered member with, that they need all teachers to return to Ontario, same problem there.

Yeah, with CERB being what it is, i would have a hard time justifying substituting in the schools right now. Both boards are short of substitute teachers at the best of times, this year is quite nuts.

No, no... you put pay cheques in one account and CERB in a different account (actual thing I’ve seen 3x this week already)

bankruptcy typically doesn't get rid of "bad" CRA debt. CRA will oppose the discharge for cheaters every single time so you can't get rid of the debt.

I know someone who thinks that banking her employees hours, and having them work while collecting CERB is going to work out well.

And she is quite open about her fraud, practically bragging about it.

Isn't that past fines and interest and more like jail time?

Does CRA still have a bounty on fraud tips? Asking for a friend.
