I think today's update indicates it's in the Town itself, not the giant district as you've mentioned. The Mayor stated in 3/27 that it was NOT in the town proper.
It now is and the extent of it will soon be confirmed.
I don't see it any different, most of high river commutes to Calgary. If it's in Calgary it's coming here, it's in most small communities already. Bunch out on the FN reserves too. Doesn't change anything...

It's in basically all towns of over a few thousand people at this point, regardless of testing, or published statistics.

It's going to be +16-18 here in BC this weekend. I predict the masses will be out and about at popular tourist sites/parks etc. Sigh.

I get where they are coming from, but social distancing on hiking trails is 100x easier than staying in the city and walking around neighbourhoods. People will go outside, you can't stop them.

Shandro opens today's update...a temporary structure to be built at Lougheed for the expected surge in cases.

There's basically no social distancing going on my neighbourhood.

A friend in Airdrie lives on one of the sloughs...er.. lakes. He says the community wants to turn it into a one way path "because there isn't room to walk past eachother 6' apart.

I might as well surgically attach my palm to my face at this point.

Dr Dee thanks YOU (except for suntan's community) for saving lives by distancing. 1 more down in a nursing home in Calgary (not Mackenzie).
    Significant drop in real-flu cases.

There's no real social distancing going on in any community. My friend goes out for bike rides, people are all over the sidewalks.

Which hippy community is this? I am guessing Mount Pleasant, Bridgeland, or East Village.

People around Mount Pleasant and Highland Park as doing a decent job of distancing on the sidewalks. Just switch sides of the street or walk down the middle of the street to pass people.

Oh...so you are the anti-suntan community. Sun-tan's community should thank yours for lowering the cases of both the realflu and the beerflu.

If he would at least start giving me a reach-around that would be nice.

USA will be winning this race by tomorrow or over the weekend at the latest. USA! USA!

Although, to be fair, it makes sense that more populous nations would have higher death tolls. I like to tease, but on a statistical basis, deaths per million is more relevant if you are trying to compare the effectiveness of mitigation or intervention strategies.

But that's the point. The young health parents get it, then suddenly you're that much closer to herd immunity.
So here you talk of the parents getting it, which is absolutely likely... I agree. Do you happen to be a parent? If so, you know your child's "viral load" buzzword of the day means little. Your kid gets it, you get it. Sadly, kids distribute fluids everywhere. Your assumption of young parents being fine is flawed from what I see. People are having kids later these days and not everyone is healthy. My wife is at risk with Asethma, for example. I can't say I'm super keen on being a test case for your experiment.

Meanwhile, you risk passing it on others for days until you realize anyone is infected. As well, and here is the key: More will die. Significantly more. Yes, the vast majority will be fine but there WILL be extra deaths - primarily for those who didn't realize their body was weak as well as those who die because there wasn't enough doctors to save them when they cut their artery and all the doctors are tending to covid cases.

Any kind of significant spike is dangerous right now, imo. I am not saying I entirely disagree with you - as perhaps this really does end up a herd immunity scenario, but I would really prefer less people dying and drag this out a little longer while a successful treatment is found. If that doesn't appear likely, then I really don't see an end to this so we might as well do what you are suggesting but in a far more controlled, phased approach.

More will not die. It will not be significantly more. Please stop. Even in Quebec, no one under 60 has died from this. And they're incompetent over there. It's why they need so much money from Alberta. They can't take care of themselves.

If you don't believe that unleashing this onto the public won't end up in more deaths one way or another, then there really isn't any point in debating, is there?
