Perfect example of the government failing to lead and set firm rules. If masks are not 100% mandatory then fuck off with this you should wear a mask stuff.

It’s “failing to lead” this way and “infringing on my rights” the other way.

How about you fuck off with your sense of entitlement and wear a mask? Is it that hard for you, little snowflake?

I really feel, and this thread is reinforcing, that whatever way each of us is doing is "common sense" and anything else is idiotic.

I'm mostly trying to avoid situations where wearing a mask seems sensible. I think that's even safer?

I firmly believe no matter how hard you try we will all end up with symptoms one way or another.

Due to unforseen circumstances I will probably need to wear a mask more often than not soon.

I'm not required to. Pretty simple to understand what i am legally required to do and what not to do. If that's a concern for you, you are more then welcome to stay home.

You sounds like smokers used to, when they were told they couldn't smoke indoors anymore.

I saw a guy in Costco wearing a mask in the meat department. He had to sneeze, so he pulled the mask down. I laughed.

Fauci is "cautiously optimistic" there will be a vaccine by end of this year or early 2021:
    https://apnews.com/a36ac8c2b3edf7f9c41f850e945c32e8

That's pretty encouraging, especially when i've read articles recently that say there will never be a vaccine. Still haven't decided if i'll vaccinate myself/family right off the bat but its a good thing to be available either way i think.

Following the laws currently set in place makes me a douche? I follow all the legalities set in place for dealing with COVID, mandatory masks are not one of them. Sounds like your issue is with the government who sets said rules and not me personally. I'd write a letter to your MP for more strict public health orders.

I have to assume the first model year of a vaccine to be equivalent to the first model year of a new car.

That's a terrible argument as second hand smoke is proven to kill people. Healthy people with no masks around other healthy people with no masks, doesn't spread anything. As long as the public health order for social distancing is being appropriately applied there is nothing wrong with that. The government seems to agree.

EDIT: @Ca_Silvia13 whats the difference between a healthy person and an asymptomatic person?

You know, you may not agree with the way he makes his point but he's making one. We are facing something similar to his "douche" attitude in our industry and having to take the same stance in some instances. You have inconsistent information/policies and inconsistent application of them by random persons/places of business. We've taken a position that if we're not contravening the rules and regulations specified as mandatory we're doing the right thing. And we take our safety policy VERY seriously. If we don't take that approach and start bending to what every Tom/Dick/Sally wants at any situation we'll never get anything done. We're meeting the standards set forth by the regulatory and advisory bodies and that is sufficient. Does that make us a douche company? No. It makes us a responsible one.

The mixed message early on caused confusion.

It took a Korean Doctor to provide context of that order before the world starts to turn toward masks.

Now that we have stats and facts, but it doesn't matter. In the age of antivaxxer, flat earther and conspiracy theorists, we have long learnt that facts thru the lens of interpretation and bias means different thing to different people. Just because smoking kills doesn't mean people will stop. Just because mask wearing will reduce the infection rate and buys us time until vaccine is ready, doesn't mean people will do it to help everyone to buy time.

Mask wearing is fucking annoying. Especially now the temp has warmed up. But I will do it in any indoor places as a gesture to help my fellow human being until it is proven not needed.

Now here's some news on antibody:

Holy shit, a reasonable attitude in the wake of ambiguous circumstances that favors prudence given it's more or less a minor inconvenience at best. Shit, how did that happen?

It depends: is your attitude "fuck everyone else"?

No, but it could be taken as "fuck some people" because it has to be sometimes. If masks are required for entry to a place, they'll have them on. If they aren't, they likely won't.
