So Master Biden initially said to Americans to wear Masks for 100 days, and then at a Pfizer plant 4 days ago, that you should keep wearing masks after getting vaccinated.

Master Fauci had said lockdowns and restrictions will carry onto 2022. But guess what Master Fauci says you can now hug your family members, but only if you're jabbed with that experimental vaccine! Yay

A new, made in the USA variant:

"Two studies due to come out soon suggest the variant, which the virologists call B.1.427/B.1.429, might not only be more contagious, but may also cause more severe disease.

A team of scientists at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), tested virus samples from recent outbreaks across the state and found the new variant was becoming far more common. It wasn't seen in any samples from September but by the end of January it was found in half of them.

A major caveat: the research is in its very early stages, has not been published or peer-reviewed and needs more work.

The scientists say the variant has a different pattern of mutations than the ones first seen in the United Kingdom and South Africa. One of its mutations affects the spike protein of the virus, which is the part that attaches to cells the virus infects. Dr. Charles Chiu, associate director of the clinical microbiology lab at UCSF and the study's lead, said the mutation might make the virus more efficient at docking to cells, increasing its infectiousness.

Chiu's team also found some evidence it is more dangerous. The scientists said they observed "increased severity of disease" associated with the new variant, including "increased risk of high oxygen requirement." Their report will be posted to a preprint server later this week after public health officials in San Francisco review it. "

It would be great if they would wait until they know if a variant is, in fact, more contagious or can cause more serious COVID prior to making it known.

Is this the Californian variant that they finally put a name on it after like 3-4 months? Or another one?

I still find it strange that naming variants after their geographic origin is fine, but the same can’t be done for the original virus

Do we really want discriminatory violence against Californians?

CDC still calls it by tech term. P1, B.1.351 and B.1.117. I just don't remember if the Californian one got a number yet or not.

Well, it's not like they're people, per se.

Everyone should know, you always have a mask available to you. Skid marks and all.

So my 88 year old grandmother has been in hospital for the past three weeks with progressively failing heart and kidneys.

She is likely days away from passing on her own merits, and has conveniently been diagnosed with Covid as of today.

    Absolute bullshit it my eyes.

So, you are thinking the doctors & hospital staff mgmt at that facility have a vested interest in seeing her cause of death recorded as CoVid?
Are they already under an outbreak, or has her case pushed them into declaring an outbreak?

She, as far as I’m aware, is the first case.

Is there a vested interest? Not sure.

I just find it very convenient timing, especially since she is already in palliative, and literally days away from death.

It's not convenient for the hospital. They will have a nightmare tracing the staff that have been in contact with her and future restrictions etc etc etc.

Just has my spidey senses tingling a bit.

She has only been in contact with hospital staff, with full ppe, our only communication is via Zoom, set up by the hospital (you can see her nurse in full body ppe)

    Doesn’t make sense.

I'm sorry for your shitty situation.

Scenarios like this make me really wonder about recirculated air in large buildings (like a hospital). If it's flying around through the HVAC then PPE doesn't stop anything unless we're all wearing respirators 24/7 (which obviously is never going to be a thing).

Things looking good for March 1st and the next nothingburger stage of reopening. 262 hospitalizations is the latest number I saw online. Has anyone heard anything about if we will ever get gyms back? It's kind of fucked they just completely left it out of the opening stages.
