    speaking of 200m

here was a model someone put together. we would reach 200m deaths by September if this thing isnt contained. you can start to panic if the number continues to get close to this model month after month.

These kind of numerical simulations are kind of hard to project to world-wide scale, because they make some assumptions that may make sense on a city or region level, but are nonsense when extended globally.
I'm not an infectious disease expert, but I feel like certain regions/populations are much more susceptible to spreading disease.

We need a coronavirus tax to stop this from happening, it's the only way!

I read this is not even considered a Gobal Emergency yet by the WHO, unlike SARS, Swine Flu, the last 2 Ebola outbreaks, etc. Is that still the case?

Hopefully that is the case. The protocol of how this is being handled vs. SARS is drastically different.

I have a feeling they know exactly what is going on but is waiting or stalling as long as possible to minimize panic and get all their sh!% together before triggering/announcing, usually when the mass public hears about it, everyone is a step behind.

Although WHO hasn't declared it a emergency there are numerous bulletins on their site providing guidance and information regarding the spread of the virus. The bulk of the infections and deaths are still located in China but there have been cases in more countries lately.

The thing to remember with all this is we are only 1 month into when info about the virus broke out. WHO was notified Dec 31st and thats when people started paying attention to it. SARS lasted 8 months, 8000 people were infected and 774 died.

So far Coronavirus has 2750 cases and 81 deaths approximately 6 weeks after the first case although there's been mixed info whether those numbers are actually accurate or being suppressed. China is definitely taking it seriously with the quarantines and shutting down a lot of large public venues so although the Virus may be more contagious than others it may be better contained that ones we've had in the past.

That's just the beginning of this. Watch 28 Days Later and then Mad Max (Road Warrior and Fury Road) for full preparation.

Actually, 1st case is Dec 8th. They just didn't tell WHO until Dec 31st.

I can appreciate the mass panic an alert will induce but not allowing journalist to cover it may have made it worse. And the minute the quarantine order comes thru, that actually induced 5M people to GTFO and in a sense probably accelerated it.

Or we find the monkey in Outbreak. In this case, it's a snake or bat or snakebat.
