The great fear amongst the gov't officials, healthcare workers, and policymakers is encountering a situation where you get deaths due to triage.

They don't mind people dying, they REALLY dont want people dying because a doctor had to choose one person over another, like in Italy.
Yep. This was pretty much why the shutdowns came into effect. Everyone saw Italy basically choosing who was dying, and they didnt want to be in that position. Now that we know more about how this virus spreads and is treated, we are better informed, we can find a balance

Trump officially withdraws from World Health Organization.

$200 million owed to WHO will not be paid. Dine and dash! Last man in has to pay the bill. Liked most of Trumps moves right up until this one. Dickwad move.

Does beg the question: If the USA develops a vaccine before Europe, will they distribute it to the rest of the world? I have my doubts.
They’ll charge triple and then WWIII happens so goodbye everyone

Yup, pretty much like everything else. USA makes it for themselves, plants a flag on it, and then make it unattainable/unaffordable for everyone else, including their own kids. Let everyone else smash into the side of the moon. Story keeps on repeating.

    I blame Shrelki.

If the Oxford vaccine is successful, Billy Gates will be sitting on 300M doses? Just enough for US after you discount the antivaxxers?

Well... To the anti-vaxxers credit: Anyone who got a flu shot last year probably got their immune system shocked to fight that particular strain of flu. Now, I don't know how many "Memory" cells a human body produces, but it might be that they grow a great immune response to the flu and when Covid comes around, it simply knocks them flat.

This is the problem with vaccination, its always a "guess" and noone guessed last year that it wasn't going to be a flu.

Because someone that many users don't trust says he's thinking about maybe trying to do something?

Did you read the same article you posted a link to? Was there supposed to be a different link?

Yes I read it, I’m not saying that Nenshi knows best but that people who will only wear a mask will do so if it’s mandated by the government

If there was a proven safe vaccine ready tomorrow would you take it? CBC was interviewing someone on sunday who did a poll about the swine flu in 2009 and 40% of people said they wouldnt take it. They also said in the interview for a covid vaccine to work then atleast 90% of people need to take it. However like @Xtrema said there is no antibodies really produced so I have my doubts how the traditional vaccine's will fare, the MRNA ones seem the most promising.

Oh I misunderstood what you meant and I agree that most people will wear a mask if it's mandatory.

Never buy the first model year of a car. I don't want to get Cronenberg'd first.

There is antibodies but it's done in about 8-12 weeks from Chinese and Spanish studies.

So if a vaccine proven to work, the next challenge is for how long. You may need 2 shot per season... if there is a season.

 I'd take it. Realistically if there are long term health issues we won't know for years so waiting 6 months isn't going to be any safer. And phase 2 / 3 trials hit a large enough population that any issues should creep up. The Oxford trial is over 10,000 people, statistically if there are any major concerns it'll show up.

Vaccines take a long time to test and get approved so if one is approved I can't see Canada just shifting to a different one once a second one becomes available.

I do enough shit to my body with shitty eating, alcohol, and other things when I was younger I can't see this being any worse for my long term health. I figure there's as much risk with the vaccine having issues as Corona patients having long term health issues even though they've recovered. We could see a spike in respiratory issues years from now ...

So did all the foreign workers just stay around Canada the entire pandemic and collect cerb from our government? I’ve heard a few stories and the mountains are full of Aussie employees again.

So, people have forgotten the difference between droplet and airborne transmission?
    The W.H.O. is a joke.
