Correlation / causation. Big spike in infections - new mutation... Large areas of the uk are going into lock down for Christmas when they were previously told that wouldn't happen...

Seriously hope they do a proper quarantine of everyone currently airborne or send them back.

I think the banning of flights is more to do with the Brexit deadline approaching. Euro ministers doing anything to spin and have a dig at the UK.

It's interesting what they are looking at, but the data is not yet compelling. It could become compelling of course, but it isn't yet. There is a lot of conclusion jumping going, even in this report, with little useful experimental data. It is just as likely we are seeing a case of survivorship bias with respect to this variant as any other explanation.

(posted late November) Mark my words - we will be shutdown again and the economy will completely collapse, as planned. First time wasn't enough.

Just like before, none of this will 'help' the spread and the cases will continue to rise (after they fall again).

Masks have done little to nothing to help the most vulnerable - unless one looks at the lessening of deaths in AB.

Next they might discover C19/20/21 is spread from drinking water or something completely unusual and unlikely - would explain the sudden increase even with the vast majority of the population practicing the preventative measures.

Yep, its coming. The new UK strain will basically mandate lockdowns now for us in the new year. The new strain (lets call it C21) will have gotten into Canada. All travel will be shut down domestically and the cases of C21 will skyrocket regardless.

All the prep/mask, etc. useless for this and it will just do what it wants to. Lockdowns have not worked at all and this has been stated by the WHO (that even military lockdowns would not work).

Isolate the elderly (who are by far the most affected in hospitals, etc) and let the rest of us get back to work. Colds and flus are at least down significantly this season thanks to the measures, so a drop off from those deaths is a plus.

Its a new faster spreading variant. What happened to Covid18 for eg? (I dont know)
