BC schools now closed. I continue to work though have now changed to 1/2 day only and am doing telephone/virtual visits whenever possible. I'm wearing a separate set of clothes to office, and then change into scrubs. My clothes come off in the garage on arriving home, then I go straight to the shower in the basement. I have a new born at home. Not taking any chances.

Cases in physician population are rising. Scary.

Stay safe brother. You guys are doing so much heavy lifting right now, keep up the excellent work.

Alberta sure, but I said Canada

I would expect Toronto would the hot spot although I can’t find numbers for cases per city
Likely Vancouver due to the proximity to Seattle (which is a US hotspot) and the initial cases were there. Add to that an aging population, pretty bad recipe and you can see it in death toll so far.

    Positive test?
Not yet. Mother in law goes to a senior home once a week for activities and as a social outing. They have stated that they have a "respitory bug" and she has had the sniffles and a cough and we had to go pick her up last week. They still haven't identified it, or given her a test, but AHS has told us to self isolate because of it.

That's weird. Pretty sure you're only supposed to self isolate if you've been in close contact with someone confirmed COVID positive.

If you need to self isolate being in contact with someone with just symptoms, we'd all need to self isolate now. Motherfucker so many coughers at work last week. You should be self monitoring, which means stay away from people but still OK to get supplies to build cool shit.

Yeah and only way to get tested is through confirmed contact as well.

Well like with everything, it's evolving. Stay safe and keep us posted!

So I know three being tested.
Two of those are only getting tested because they hung out with the first that is being tested, and all three were recommended to self-isolate by Healthlink until tests came back since they were showing some symptoms. That is before any results came back, and even before they got through the testing queue.

makes sense to me. You'd hate to tell people to not self isolate, and then find out they did have it. Worse case they self-isolated with a cold for a while (one of three got results, and negative)

The results provide key information about the stability of SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease, and suggests that people may acquire the virus through the air and after touching contaminated objects.

Family friends mother who lives in LA was hospitalized last week for difficulty breathing (she is elder and has underlying health concerns) they did the Covid test, came back negative. As her symptoms improved they sent her home with other family members only to call her 3 days later to tell her to come back in, they fucked up that first test. Re-tested her and its positive. Now the entire family and all friends that came in contact with here during those 3 days are in quarantine and the mother is on her death bed. Glad I'm not living in the States right now, total cluster fuck.

Did she travel? Or community transmission?

The crazy part to me is how they say “we now have this many cases here here and here” and then they don’t even tell anyone where people have been so they can back track and think, hey maybe I could have a got it. Instead it’s just a bunch of people with a cold freaking out and calling health link clogging up the system.

Yea, that literally meets the definition for self isolation:

no symptoms AND a history of possible exposure to the novel coronavirus due to travel outside of Canada or close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19. ou need to self-isolate if: you have travelled outside of Canada within the last 14 days OR your Public Health Authority has identified you as a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19
In spikerS' case, nobody has even been tested.

The problem is, if everyone self isolates, you're going to need a huge support network of people to go out and get food/supplies etc. Self monitoring is pretty much self-isolate but able to go get shit while staying away from people as much as possible.

The scary part about the high rate of testing in Alberta is that when you call 811 with concerns and request to be tested, they ask "have you been in China or Italy in the last two weeks", and "have you been in close contact with someone who has tested positive", and "are you showing all of the symptoms of covid".

If you don't answer in the affirmative to two, they won't test you, they tell you to self isolate if concerned.

Which begs the question, how many fkn Albertans have been in China or Italy and are showing symptoms? Are people lying to be tested, hence our high rest rate and low infection rate?

Frankly I don't believe any of the data to be accurate.
I can eat more hot wings than you.
