I am intrigued. My exposure to Revenue Canada is limited to paying an invoice every year. I went into it, it says they have to snail me an access code lol

Yea it’s a huge pain in the dick. But once you have it it simplifies a lot of things.

The more you can do without calling into the CRA the better in my books.

You want that account setup BEFORE you need to use it.

You should have both the My Account and CRA online stuff setup. So much valuable information and lets you avoid calling them unless really necessary.

It's a poor people thing. Rich people don't pay taxes. Carry on.

I feel like I've lived a sheltered life, I have never called CRA, or felt compelled too. This pandemic is very educational.

    Devils advocate.
If he had access to proper medical care he would likely still be alive.
Devils Devils advocate, if the Canadian healthcare system was overwhelmed due to lack of social distancing, he also wouldn't have had proper medical care.

True. But it said in the article he was already receiving medical attention and was discharged. I’m guessing because he didn’t want his medical bills to keep racking up.

More "fear-mongering" from leftist lib media based a single study from the country who is failing to control the outbreak, based on stats from a no-name third world country.

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/healt...-idUKL4N2BP41S

People infected with the novel coronavirus can transmit the infection one-to-three days before symptoms start to appear, according to a study published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The study looked at 243 cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, reported in Singapore between January 23 to March 16 and identified seven “clusters” where pre-symptomatic transmission was likely.

    A few key benefits:
    - instant access to all previous notice of assessments instead of keeping the paper copies they mail you
    - find out the exact date your return was assessed and when you will get a refund
    - find out RRSP/TFSA limits
    - find out GST / child credit payments
    - find all your T-slips
    - new feature as of 2 years ago - your tax software can automatically pull all your t slip info from your My CRA instead of typing in all the numbers from each box separately
    - you can see if you have any uncashed cheques

100% worth it. The access code thing is not bad, it's just to verify that it's you and not someone trying to steal your identity

You guys still get GST cheques?

I have a CRA account, but I haven't given them my banking info. I never get tax returns (no kids) and usually I owe a little bit every year. Considering I usually owe them and not the other way around I'd rather not give them my banking info.

Funny how people who put the most demand on our system (families with kids) get the biggest tax refunds etc. Interesting system we have here...

Yeah, interesting how having kids who will eventually have jobs and pay taxes to support the system, is good for the system.

they also make substantial contributions to the economy. retail, groceries, travel/tourism, arts/entertainment, etc., all while creating future consumers to further fuel consumption. interesting system indeed.

Misterman's post reminds me of a WrestleMania last man standing match where the greatest wrestler of all time, the Undertaker, tombstones Triple H only to be betrayed by his main man, Paul Bearer before Ricky the Dragon Steamboat comes out of retirement to double chicken wing the traitor while narrowly avoiding being 619'd by Rey Mysterio. All this distraction allowed the Undertaker to recover enough to throw Mankind off the Hell in a cell who plummeted 16ft through an announcer's table.
You know what I just realized? Triple H's entrance of spraying water mist before entering the ring will no longer be socially unacceptable in the new normal.

The GST credit thing. I haven't gotten any GST rebates for years. Did you not get them before but now with this new thing you are getting a GST rebate?

It's still fine. He has properly socially distanced himself as per Dr Dee's instructions.

And if people who didn't have kids weren't subsidizing those that do through higher taxes we'd be able to invest and save more which would fundamentally help the economy more than a bit of consumer spending.
