The first time was easy. Getting shots outside of the phases was happening at a large scale because demand wasn't super high. 2nd doses is tougher because doses are being used with first doses wide open, and AHS has given pharmacies shit for doling out 2nd doses, so it's more of a needle in the haystack.

My parents are retired, and they've been going to pharmacies daily trying to get 2nd dose for the last month because they want to spend the whole summer with the grandkids (and they have nothing better to do). They just finally found a needle in the haystack today that'll give them a 2nd dose. They've been shit on by pharmacists for wasting their time the last couple of weeks booking and already had first dose.

So ya, your 2nd shot is definitely lucky.

Mine actually missed the AHS cutoff by a few days, but their local pharm had a wait-list for 2nd shots if they had extra doses available and they got the call.

Edmonton has cancelled K-Days for 2021.

This seems really odd when it was scheduled for the final week of July. There will be so few restrictions by that point and it's a fairly small event to put together (compared to Stampede).
I think it's a huge mistake to squander an opportunity to get people together after such a horrible 1.5 years.

Its all hearsay right now but my buddy at the CBSA said his higher ups are pushing the message that the US is opening up the 22nd regardless of what canada does and will be waving quarantine requirements for people with both shots.

Co-worker was telling me his parents recently came back from the states, they have to do the 14 day quarantine even though they are fully vaccinated with proof. They were told by AHS that Alberta/Canada will not recognize their vaccines (pfizer) because they happened out of country.

Is it possible that they were expecting that they would be exempt from quarantine because of their vaccines and discovered that no one is, even if you get vaccinated in Canada? I know I was told by AHS that vaccines given outside of the jurisdiction could be added so long as you have the paperwork that shows the date, dose, manufacturer, lot number etc..

There is no exemption from quarantine for fully vaccinated people regardless of where the shots came from or what shots they got.
