Is this serious enough yet? Basically, if you get Covid and require admittance to the ICU, and bed space is tight they will have to start triaging based if they think you will survive a year. If they don't think you will, you are on your own.
Well it's a contingency plan, it's better they have a plan rather than not. It's not like they are at the point that it actually comes into play yet. As far as I know they announced they cancelled (only) 30% of surgeries; so while things are definitely getting worse quickly I don't think we're anywhere near that point yet.

Battlefield style triage applied to our lacklustre socialized Medicare system? Who could’ve seen it coming....

It’s amazing how disincentivized the Canadian healthcare system is to treat more patients when they already have our money whether they treat us or not.

Ontario is falling apart with 1000 people in ICU in a population of 14.5million. Healthcare capacity is the real pandemic.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ALERT! We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas.
Something that's intended for missing/abducted children and/or guaranteed impending tornado.
Instead, used to tell me something about CoVid, blah blah Delete, blah.
    Cold Heineken. Fuck the gov't.

Whatever that warning was and whoever ordered it under these circumstances needs to be hanged from the neck until dead, in a public square.

No words. Unfathomable abuse of an emergency system.

This is kind of pathetic to be honest.
Most people a month or two away from being vaccinated and this happens, lol. I guess you don't give a shit about your long term health? Whatever, knock yourself out.

Eh, outbreaks are hard to control. Good friends daughter found out on friday their daughter is a close contact through daycare. We were chilling in their backyard having a beer when they found out.

Other buddy is up at kearl trying to not catch it.

Only applies to Covid eh. Don't forget about the millions of Canadians who smoke, eat and drink excessively. Diabetus is still the bigger killer, but keep perpetuating that pandemic fear. You work for CBC?

Has anyone seen a comparison on hospitalizations or positivity rats?

My statement applies to the topic at hand, which is Covid. Don't try to wrangle my words into your narrative :P

And don't you ever compare me to the fuckin' CBC again, ya hear?

Comparing our currently daily case stats to a country who is 1-2 months ahead of us in vaccination timelines seems like a useful endeavour.

‘Member how smug Canadians were about their relative “control” of coronavirus versus the states even a couple months ago?

The US at their worst still kicks Canada's ass.

The US right now is still ahead of Canada in deaths per day. Even with 50+% of their eligible populations having vaccines and "The best medical industry in the world" they have more people die every day right now than Canada at it's "worst".

Calgary is basically the covid hotspot of the country (Maybe 2nd to Toronto? Not sure anymore) and we've had 16 deaths in the past 2 weeks. I really do hope we get this shit under control as it's getting worst and its embarrassing to see Alberta fuck it up this bad but AB/Canada being bad for the last 1-2 months pales in comparison to the shitshow the US was the past year.

On a side note wtf is up with Edmonton? They have 60% of the active cases Calgary does but the same hospitalized and ICU? Is Calgary just doing better to manage things or does Edmonton take a lot of transfers from up north maybe?
